- MichelleSomething shady is happening with these people. They have called my cell and my office leaving a message saying "best of luck on your case" something about it all falling on me and that I need to call or have my attorney call. I called back... they answer as "Law Offices" and when I said I needed to know which law office and what the call was concerning they placed me on hold and shortly hung up the phone. (It sounds like a call center from India) to me it all screams SCAM
- Michelle replies to AprilThey called my office too. Be careful seems like a scam
- L.C.I have received several threatening phone calls claiming I owe a payday loan and that I was going to be arrested at work. I was asked if I wanted to settle out of court to avoid being arrested. In order to avoid this I would need to get a green dot moneypak and call them with this information. Always do your research. I found articles regarding scams of this sort.
- JakeFlukeCalled multiple times and threatened by heavily Indian accented individuals. Called my cell and work. Told me I was the main suspect and I had to pay back a loan today to American Cash or be arrested and that I'd better get a lawyer. I found articles online one from the State of Washington State Department proving this is a scam. These people impersonate police officers, lawyers and debt collectors. Do not give them info or MONEY! FRAUD.

- Mack| 1 replyI received a call from this number(661-451-2085) with threats. Bill collectors cannot make threats. I have never received a loan they claim I did. If did, prove it. Its a scam big time.
- Stephanie replies to julia WolvertonThis just happened to me. I've had several calls on my cell and then they called my work. I immediatley called them back and was told I owe on a "Payday Loan" (which is illegal in my State). They asked me first if I had a lawyer, I told her it was none of her business and asked what this was about. I told her to send whatever she had to my house, she then said she would send my "arrest warrent" and I would spend Christmas behind bars and hung up. I was pissed and called them right back, I also had several of my co-workers call and threaten them. Needless to say, they have no blocked my cell number and my work number so I can no longer call.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
