These people are nothing the scammers, got a call from the same people about the US Treasury and a criminal office being charged against me.  The have called here numerous time from 510-423-6162 back in December, 2014 and today from 916-604-7387 and now this number 661-475-3280.  I play along with them and start yelling and screaming at them, the one man wanted to sing a song to me, he was filthy about it.  They are probable pissed that I give it back to them.  You can block all the calls you want, but end up calling you from another number. So ticked off that these idiots can get away with this crap!!!!!

yes...I was told there was a warrant out for my arrest from unpaid Federal Taxes...the IRS doesn't call...I told them that and they hung up on me...but then called back a couple of times shortly after that and when I picked up, I informed them that I was reporting them to the FTC...they stopped for today

I have gotten four calls in the last half hour from 661-475-3280.   I called back and was told if I did not pay $500 right now toward my taxes they would take legal action for a federal criminal offense.  I hung up and called the main line to the IRS and was told  it was a scam.

Below is the transcript voice mail I have on this phone number. It is a hoax and I didn't answer:
    Thursday | January 29, 2015 | 10:36 AM PT  |  43 seconds

“Hi my name is Steve Martin and this message is intended to contact you regarding an enforcement action executed by the United States Treasury intending your serious attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 661-475-3280. I repeat it's 66147580. I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank you.”

Well these bozos really have their robo-dialer busy today spoofing yet another phone number. The message left on voicemail makes it sound like I have a federal criminal action pending which is a bunch of BS. Reports about these kinds of scammers have been all over the news. I never answer a call unless I recognize the caller or number and all of my family and friends are already programmed into the phone. I'll add this one to the blocked number list in my landline phone system. It holds up to 250 blocked numbers and the memory is FIFO (fist-in, first-out) meaning when I put in the 251st number, the first number I entered MANY months ago gets deleted. PERFECT! There's always room for more and the numbers the scammers have given up using will be the ones that get deleted. Thank you Panasonic and Costco for providing such a magnificent product..

I am recently widowed and over the past week or two, most recently today, I have been  receiving threatening phone calls from this number.  They do not use my name, or provide details on what I am accused of, other than it is something criminal and this is the last chance I will have to do anything about it before I am faced with federal criminal charges. The person who speaks (it has always been a male) sounds uneducated and rough but does not have an accent that I hear as foreign.

Sorry to hear about your loss.  They probably got your name from the obituary and figure you might be an easy mark since you are in the process of grieving, making arrangements, etc.  This is a common IRS scam going around, or it might be they are claiming bad checks, whatever.  It is a ploy by criminals to scare you into paying them money.  Do not fall for it, and do not pay them one red cent.
Here is the link to the IRS warning:  http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam
If this is debt collection scam, this applies:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Most likely these are criminals in a foreign country,  but they might also be in this country as we have no shortage of these cretins.

If you get any more information or need any more help, feel free to come back and ask.  Anyone here will be glad to help you out.

I, too, am sorry for your loss.  BigA gives some excellent advice.  Since you know this is a scam, may I suggest buying a phone that can block numbers?  There is no need to put up with these thieves - and that is all they are ---lowlifes to lazy to get a real job.

Even if you did owe money, that would be a civil case (not a criminal one - and certainly not a federal one).  The caller will probably threaten you with jail (will not happen) or a similar threat & try to scare you into paying hem for a debt that does not exist.

There are many messages on 800notes similar to yours regarding "debt"  As BigA said - no written, mailed document, NO debt!

So sorry for your loss!  I would suggest also here to get yourself a call blocking device or phone. Block them and don't speak with them.

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
