Potential scam, even though they report to be trying to collect a debt (I guess?). Call blocked. Next! :)

Received automated call indicating the same as originally posted. When calling back, they claim they have an order for judgement and a writ of garnishment ready to file, but can't seem to provide any information on what court the action was filed in. When questioned about the validity, they kept repeating "So are you going to dispute this in court?" and eventually disconnected the call. Repeated calls back and attempts to speak with a "manager" have been a joke. This has SCAM written all over it.

Been getting the same call for six years now, new name, same threats. Some supposed payday loan from 2009 which they can show no proof of because I have NEVER taken a payday loan in my life! Ask and ask for proof. They have no idea what the Fair Credit and Collections Act is, as she said it didn't apply to her company! Used to be some guy out of Florida that was being tracked by the FCC!

I don't think they are a debt collector.  They say that there is a case against you (which these people have called my office many times and I work at a law firm, if we were being sued we would know) and that they are coming for you with armed officers.  I keep reporting them to the FTC and I'm on the do not call registry but somehow they still call us.

Same call as AquaLily above.  First time female voice, second day male voice with exact same message.

They started calling yesterday but the person that they are threatening action against has been deceased for 17 years so this is totally a scam.

Received auto message that connected me to another person who said they received the same call.  Possible scam.

Same here.  They never give up.  Refuse to identify address of their company and state of their licenses.  Total scam.  When searching some of these numbers they show as a residential address.  Some home based business, huh?

Same message, except when I called back a female who said her name was Ashley Gordon told me the debt was from a company "Cash Call" in Anaheim, CA.   I supposedly owed them $2650, but she was authorized by her company's attorney to settle it for $1000, and could take a credit card.  I said I didn't have one, but they could come to my house and pick the money up.   She put me on hold to talk to her "attorney" again, and then she said they cannot come to the house, but I should go to Walmart and get a prepaid card.  What a crock!!  There is a cash call.  But they have no record of me, and I know I never did business with them.  I think everybody should keep calling them to tie up their phone lines.   SCAM

I just got the same call on my cell. did blocking the number help and did they ever contact your work?  Do we know if this is a scam?

Of course it's a scam.  All the posts here indicate these crooks violate the FDCPA as often as they breathe.

Called me looking for a family member, full stating that there was a judgement against them and they were going to garnish his wages.  Without verifying me, or who I was in relation, which is entirely illegal.

Not amused, who do I report this to?

I hate evil, wicked people like this.  They think we are stupid.  That's why they do it, hoping to get a sucker to call back and give them money.  Wicked people, that is all they are.

They called me an addressed me by my maiden name in the same robotic voice. I tried to call back and it kept hanging up on me and once I got through it was just hold music forever and I finally hung up.

They even called my child, my ex mother in law and my ex brother in law which has stirred up a BUNCH of crap! I feel like no one believes me that is a scam
