    Getting Wise
Just got a call from this number. The person on the other end sounded like from India. Asked for the owner of this phone number..I told them to leave a message because owners were away and I was house sitting. Said they were from the refund department..didn't say from where. They hung up.
You cannot call back..tried 3 times, each time an automated operator came on saying cannot complete the call as dialed, please try again. I dialed it from auto dial.

They called twice in a row, the first time they called and I answered..there was nothing at the other end..that's when I tried to call back, got the OP recording, then they called me back.

Thank goodness for these postings. I just got the same "Your computer has been compromised" call.
I didn't give any information and told him to call back.
Then I Googled the phone number and found this site.

Just wait till he calls back now...
However, I am concerned where he got the name and the phone number. He asked for my son who has nothing to do with this computer or the phone except that the account is in his name. That would mean they must have access to the ISP's billing information.

    THANK YOU...

You'll probably have to take it to a bricks and mortar place to have the hard drive reformatted.  I had to have this done with one of my computers (didn't get a MS scam call, just got a really bad virus).  The local computer repair store reformatted the hard drive and threw in one year's antivirus protection as well.  They only charged $50 so it wasn't too bad, just inconvenient.

Hope your son learns that you can't take the word of anyone calling that they are who they claim to be.  That's a hard (and expensive) lesson to learn.

Some guy called who you could barely understand, saying my computer was compromised.  This sounded very fishy to me, so I ask him which computer as I have more than one, and how did he no my computer was compromised and he kept trying to answer around me.  So I told I don't think so, but i would have my IT guy look into it and I hung up on him!

Been getting calls from this # for 2 weeks now on my cell phone..It's a woman that keeps asking for someone named "Eric" & something about placing a prescription order..I looked it up & this # is located in Thailand & this woman sounds like she is from there..I ignored all the calls at first but finally picked it up & told her it was wrong # but still got the calls..I'm very annoyed at this point over it & am seriously considering changing my # because of it.

These guys call me all the time, claiming to be from a "pharmacy." They get belligerent when I ask for more details, so now I just hang up. I was successfully blocking them for a while, but they keep changing their number.

8:30 am on a Saturday this number called to say he had "an urgent" call about my computer.  I asked him what was so urgent and he said "first you need to confirm to me that you have a computer" and I was like "You must know whether I do or don't because it's urgent isn't it" and he kept repeating "urgent".
Started my day off on the wrong note!

"Joshua the Supervisor at the Microsoft Technical Center" called and told me that I had a "Very significant and dangerous virus on my computer which was automatically reported by Windows". When I asked him what version of Windows I had, he hung up. I never have heard anyone with such a thick Indian accent being named Joshua!

SCAM! Got a call yesterday from this number claiming to be Microsoft Support, saying that there was a problem with our computer.  We had recently signed up for computer protection and thought that's who was calling, so we let these jerks in our portal for about 15 minutes. They said they would call back after finding/fixing the problem.  They did call back but we refused to give other info.  The heavily accented guy hung up. It sounded like he was in a cubicle farm in Bangalor. After turning off the computer yesterday it started up ok. Today I will be filling a police report and notifying the credit reporting agencies to hopefully avoid any identity theft.
