- Rose HoffReceived three calls from this number in the last two days. Never leaves a message.
- gigi| 1 replyI'm in Texas and have been receiving calls from this number for the last week. They never leave a message. This morning it showed on caller ID as "CBE Group". I have no idea who/what this is.
- Caller: CBE Group
- schmiddy replies to gigiCBE Group is a bill collection agency. Usually their phone numbers begin with a 319 area code. Not sure why they would be calling at all hours; they do the same to me.
- CC| 1 replyIf they want to talk to me bad enough to call 5 times a day, they shoudl probably leave me a message so I can call them back!!!
- Jim replies to CCI agree, I am getting 1 phone call per day for the last two days. I used NOT MY CELL and called them back. The woman just told me they were some PFG which meant nothing to me. I asked her what that meant and she said PERSONAL FINANCE GROUP ??? or what ever, I could not catch it all. She then wanted the number they were calling and I told her that the info she gave me told me nothing so I asked again who are they and why are they calling my VERY PRIVATE cell?
She got snotty with me and said that she needed this info on my cell so she can find this out. I told her that I would not give it to her and then she ended it by saying they would be calling again. I told her that I would not be answering again. END OF STORY ! I don't trust anyone who does not care to leave a message ! - momoftgkc| 1 replyI'v e been getting 10-15+ calls a day from this 678 area code. They never leave a message on my cell. I answered this evening only because I thought I wanted to find out who's been calling that much. An automated lady came on then some guy, who sounded to be from india, he said hello, I said learily hello, he was like I'm with the CBE Group were debt collectors. I said I don't know who who are but take me off your calling list, he ignored me and continued talking. He was insistent that I send over 200 bucks to them. I'm like I am not sending you money I have no idea who you are.
momoftgkc- Caller: CBE Group
- not Michael replies to momoftgkcContact your cell provider. They may be able to block the calls. Or put them in your contacts list and assign them the ring tone "no ring". That won't stop the calls but it will make them easier to ignore.
- BenAdded them to rejected calls...
- Caller: unknown
- Call type: Debt collector
- NYCI have been getting calls from this number for weeks. No messages were left. Thanks for the information in this thread. I don't owe anyone so there's no reason for a bill collector to call me. It's probably some scam. Thanks again, folks.
- EllenI'm getting several calls each day for the past week. They leave no message so I blocked the number on my cell phone. my outgoing message warns that if unknown callers don't leave a message I'll block them...they earned this!
- Caller: unknown, no message
- KeithIt is a collections company for medical bills.
- Keith| 2 repliesAlso, if you want to stop the calls, or at least the frequency of the calls do this:
First, when they call and you have time to answer, answer. Harassment is, with exception to extreme circumstances, defined upon actions made after initial contact has been made. In most states it is considered harassment if they try to call after they have already spoken to you with in a 24 hour period.
Second, record the calls, even if you sit next to your computer mic on speaker phone.
**But be careful, it is a violation of wire tap laws if you record w/o informing the other party.
The goal is to make contact with the company w/o ever really having to talk to them. 9 times out of ten if you answer the call and inform the caller that the call will be recorded (make sure they identify the company first) the caller will hang up because the companies do not allow their under educated staff to speak on a recorded devise (huge liability).
When I answer the phone for a bill collector, this is the typical script.
Me: Hello
Caller: can I speak with Mr. John Smith
Me: Hold one moment
(turn on recording devise)
Me: This is John Smith, please be advised this call is being recorded.
Me: Today is (day, month year) at (time of day) For the record please tell me your full name (or identifying employee number), Company Name, address and telephone number of the company you represent and the nature of your call.
The caller will usually have hung up by the time you finish the script. One time the person was still on the other end and asked me to turn off the recording device, to which I declined because I have every right to record calls I receive as long as I inform the other party... he ended the call.
If they do humor you and speak to you while being recorded, just take the two minutes and hear them out, deny knowledge of the debt. Legally, when you contest the legitimacy of the debt they must mail you proof in writing before calling you again. This will usually buy you at least 7 call free days. When they do send you stuff in the mail, deny receiving it until they send it certified, then just dont sign for it.
Finding ways to cost them time and money will result in them looking at your account less and less as a possible asset, in turn they will focus less of their resources on you.
-request certified mail (its expensive)
- request copies of everything everytime they call (time, paper, ink and postage)
- Make the caller hold for LONG LONG periods of time
-if you have time, string them along, like your going to make a payment, then 20 minutes later say you dont have the money.
make them not want to call you as much as you do not want them to call and they will call less. It is not illegal to do any of this.- Call type: Debt collector
- vti receives 3 to 5 calls a day from this number. friday morning they called me at 8:15, I hit the ignore call button on my phone.

- JenAgreed - this is a bill collector - however they often do a reverse address look up so they may not even be looking for you. I keep getting calls for the person who lived here before me and she obviosuly didnt have the same number. When I told them that person no longer lives here - they stopped for about 2 weeks and then started again!
