- PeggyCaller (with Indian accent) said he was from IBM. He dialed into the switchboard many times, asking for different associates within the Information Technology division. A short time after, a woman (with Indian accent) called from same number. Calls are similar to other calls from a California phone number we've had in the last few months. Callers seem to be attempting to gather names, email addresses and information from and about the company. We are transferring these calls (as well as calls from the California number) to the Security Division.
- IT PersonnelGot a call from this # and same as "Peggy" - male caller with Indian accent, BUT said he was from Stanford University (!!) and that he was conducting a study on various things IT. Gave me a name of a colleague, saying the colleague was an IT Manager at my company (he is a colleague, but not an IT Manager) and when I told him I didn't know any IT Managers with that name, he threw out another colleague's name. He wanted my e-mail address to send me an invite to a Webinar. Weird. I hung up on him without giving him any info.
- Caller: Unknown
- Me2I've been harrassed by these folks for the past couple of weeks. They've called a few times, using different company names, won't leave a number, and insist on obtaining management names within the company.
- IT ManagerCaller (with Indian accent) was transferred by someone else at my company to me. He identified himself as "Brian from Microsoft". He said he got my name from a Roy somebody in my company who referred him to me and he wanted to verify my email address to send me some information on Cloud computing. When I told him I didn't know of anyone named Roy, he then threw out the name of our CIO. I told him I was not interested and not to send me anything. I believe this someone from a company called "Salesify" fraudulently using the Microsoft name as my Linkedin profile was updated with this company name.
- Caller: stated from Microsoft
- Sec Manager| 1 replyCaller with middle eastern accent (not Indian) transferred by operator to me. Identified himself as "David" from CloudComputing Technologies. Insisted my CIO had given him my name, then gave the name of my CIO (big mistake as he gave the wrong name). Told "David" I was not interested and hung up. Call detail record from my PBX identified this as the source telephone number.
- ArchitectGot a call from a lady with a very heavy Indian accent calling her self Amy Jackson. She claimed to be from Microsoft in California, but didn't what city her office was located in. Also tried to claim that she was referred by our CIO but she didn't have the right name.
- Caller: Probably Salesify
- KimI just had a call from this #. A man with a thick accent claimed to be with the IRS. He provided an agent # and wanted my email address to send tax info. Odd.
- Caller: IRS
- TronJust recevied a second call from this number. 1st caller told me my CIO had asked him to give me a call - and used wrong name for CIO. 2nd call was from a male with an Indian accent stating he was from KPMG and wanted to confirm my e-mail address to send me an invite to a conference. Totally bogus.
- Caller: KPMG
- Call type: Event reminder
- txmzcJust got a call at my place of work from this number. Male caller with Indian accent. I answered with my first name only and then he responded, "Is this <first last name>?", I said yes, and then either we were disconnected or he hung up. I will be reporting this number to my security office.
TXMC- Caller: Unknown
- DCSI got a call from this number from a guy with an accent (as noted by other) claiming to be from Microsoft and wanting my email address to send me a link to a webinar for a new product. He also asked me to confirm where my office is located. I asked a few questions, which he skirted, and I told him to "F___ off" and hung up.
- MelissaReceive a call from woman with "indian" accent wanting to speak with our CIO. Claims to be with Microsoft calling from TX (which I knew was not true). Repeated asked her to put a manager or supervisor on the phone. She said 'NO" and hung up.
- Caller: Claims to be with Microsoft
- Another SEC Guy replies to Sec ManagerI got the exact same MO. Once it was IBM another time it was Microsoft. At least 4 calls to me over the past 3 weeks. When you dial the number back it gives you a "no such number" automated reply.
- FILOreceived call and was asked if they had the right name (no discernible accent). I said yes and asked who he was- no answer so I hung up.
traced the country code to Vanuato. Tried to call back but was informed that the number was disconnected.
weird- Caller: no company
- ITReceived the call and asking about XXX company phone number and was mentioning that he is looking for XXX Company phone number. Somehow he knows that im working for XXX company and even he spelled his name. He claimed himself as Kevin from IBM.
- Caller: IBM
- Cristina| 1 replyCalled my job over 10x's yesterday asking for different employees. Many of these people don't work here and when I told him I have no one with that name in my directory he would just go ahead and ask for another name. Don't answer or "Peggy' will call you all day long.
- Cristina replies to CristinaStarted calling me again today. I either hang up or answer but put the phone on mute. I keep hearing the guy saying, "Hello, hello?" He has already tried calling 10 times this morning.
- TonyCould not get to answer my cell phone fast enough. I hit the call back number and it said the "NUMBER WAS OUT OF SERVICE". So the scam is even worse than first thought.
- IT Calgary ABCalled our company, asked for a manager by exact name and exact position. Said he was trying to reach our manager by email and the email was bouncing. Knew the correct email address.
He used the name 'Sylvestor' from some IT firm, but the firm name was indiscernible due to his thick (indian?) accent. You cant callback, the number is 'out of service'. Scam.- Caller: unknown
- Rodwe've been getting a rash of these over the last two weeks. Same MO as the rest of these stories.
- Caller: UPS, USPS, Fed Ex, Microsoft
- CristinaDO NOT ANSWER!!! These low lives have been calling my job forever. I always hang up on them. Recently they have been linked by others within our corporation to a scam. They will try to get your contact information (such as an address), or someone else in the company by claiming they have a package for you. Some companies claim to be Fedex or UPS but this one pretends to be Microsoft. They will then send invoices to your company with no product and charge outrageous prices.
