Says a message from an "active financial crimes  division" wtf.

yes. got the same call a times a day for the past two days. Some kind of crime division. Will be blocking this number.

They say I'm under criminal investigation and must pay 610 dollars to avoid check fraud charges from a payday loan. I never had a payday loan. These people are the ones guilty of fraud.

Can anyone tell me how to stop these people?  I am busy!  I don't have time to research every number that calls me.  I think I will block their phone number, but I expect they will continue calling, just from a different phone number.  Anyone know what I should do?  Please advise me.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Want to stop repeated telescam phone calls?
Try these alternatives:

1.  Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail.  Many telescammers hang up after 3 rings.

2.  If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.

3.  If your cel is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group".  Assign the scammer's phone number to that group.  Also assign a "silent ring" to that group.  You will not hear future calls from that number.

4.  Google NoMoRobo, and visit their site, to see if your phone system is compatible with that system.  (It may or may not be compatible).

5.  Contact your phone service provider.  They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.

6.  If you buy things online, you might want to google "Amazon phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon has to offer for landlines or smartphones. Similar devices are for sale on eBay and other online stores.

I've been getting these calls several days per week for a month or more. I've blocked multiple numbers from this area code but to no avail. Someone claiming to be Karen Rogers from the Financial Crime Division. I googled it for GA but didn't find anything. The person never states my name or provides a call back number even those I'm advised to all back the same day.

Ignore.  Kitchen table debt scammer.  Typical  won't ID themselves and will not give the name of a company.

Also this is extortion.

Go to the police and make a complaint for extortion.  You are a crime victim it seems to me.

Im getting this call too and I'm in PA.  The first time I was nervous but now I am feeling better.  I believe it was an application for online cash advance services more than a year ago that have caused me to get these calls.  I get them all the time for places I didn't do business with.

Well, these scammers called me again, they call almost everyday, and I was waiting for the call. Today, I answered the call and when the person started talking I just screamed and screamed and screamed. I screamed the loudest, most annoying scream I could manage. I felt so empowered, I called them back and when the person answered, I just screamed again, very loud and very long. That was yesterday. They didn't call me today. I plan on screaming every time they call me from now on. If nothing else, it makes me feel better. These people have been calling me mostly everyday since April. This is getting to be ridiculous.

got a call from 678-466-6945, name of caller jasmine martin . sha says i owe money on an online payday loan. she will not say a company address. she threaten me.

Have gotten calls from both numbers listed above, saying all the same things. This time I spoke with a woman with a southern american (usually indian...) accent who told me she is a private detective and that I am going to be arrested for check fraud. When I told her she's full of [***] and that this is a scam, she said "have a nice day" and hung up. She did, however have my bank account number. REally sick of this [***]. I'm calling the police.
