Called and said they are the police for a past due account I supposedly owe. I owe nothing.

Called Monday 8/25/14 3:48 pm and left message on voicemail. Identified himself as Carl Anderson and supposedly representing Arbitration Center. Said there was a lawsuit with my name and wanted return call. Did not provide name on lawsuit nor who was doing the suing. Please note received similar call last year about same time - except that Carl Anderson said he was from Rockville police and was looking for unidentified person to serve lawsuit and tried to sound threatening if I did not return his call. I called local police and turned over call as someone falsely representing themselves as a police officer.    First time in over a year that I've heard from "Carl Anderson" - at least this time, he is not saying he is representing a police department. I am not returning this call as it sounds like a scam to get personal information.  

Just received the same voicemail.  SCAM!

Just received the same exact message and I know for a fact I have no outstanding bills.

I have received 2 automated calls from this number stating that an arbitration service is trying to reach me about a case against me. I have zero debt and have never had an unpaid bill, so it is obviously a scam. The question is, how to stop them?

Called the number back and they are called National Arbitration in Atlanta GA.  I asked what they wanted and told me I would have to give them my name and number....NO WAY.  Hung up!  I have no debts or active arbitrations going on.  

Called Monday 8/26/14 3:51 pm and left message on voicemail. Identified himself as Carl Anderson (678 619 0644) and supposedly representing Arbitration Center. Said there was a lawsuit with my name and wanted return call.   I am not returning this call as it sounds like a scam.

Now Carl Anderson is calling family member and asserting that they are being sued. Changed his story slightly to now the debt is supposedly a Pay Day Loan for $500 and supposedly this was a direct deposit into her Wachovia bank account back in 2005 but was in Montgomery County VA (even gave an address that supposedly she lived at in Blacksburg, VA), She got the Wachovia account number and had Wachovia check the account number and it wasn't a valid Wachovia account number, time frame was wrong and further time frame makes this debt way beyond 10 year limitation to collect, when Wachovia called Carl Anderson - he quickly begin to retreat and told bank rep that any funds received would be refunded . Later he tried to threaten family member that  Montgomery County would be suing her ---- yeah RIGHT. This guy is as fraudulent s the day is long. Every detail that he has provided that is verifiable has been proven false and when really pressed for details - he tries retreat behind vagueness and when proven false on details he provided - he tries to change the details.
When they call - they have just enough personal details to make you wonder if this is an even that you'd forgotten. With me - it falls apart with Pay Day and Cash Loans - I do not deal AT ALL with those firms as those tend to be very predatory loans. DO NOT confirm any additional information with these people and until you get a written document that you signed for whatever the loan was - its best to treat the whole affair as a SCAM. Report them to local police (if they try to insinuate that they are representing a government or local agency). Report them to the FTC if they are threatening or rude or refuse to provide details on the supposedly debt - some states also have a consumer fraud dept that you can report them to. Now here's a real kicker - do not expect any of those agencies to really do anything or even to contact Carl Anderson/Arbitration Center - by doing all of this, you are setting the stage in the event these scams mongers actually file a lawsuit. You need to keep all details info. Also this guy is persistent  - he'll come back in a few months to a year with slightly different story and maybe different phone number but the basics will be the same.

Also received the same call about a week ago. (August 20something) left a blunt message letting me know that there was an arbitrarion claim against me. Left the number to call back. Sounded phony so I waited for another call (never came). When I called the number, the message I get is that it is not set to receive phone calls. Sounds like a scam.

Update.  After reading the reports and listening again to the message, it was also from Carl Anderson. He had a busy week!  Hopefully nobody fell for the scam.
