I received a voicemail from 678-666-2014 on my cell phone from an Alicia DeLeon last night at 7:17pm. She spoke very quickly stating that she was a civil claims investigator for Kauffman, Hines, and Associates and there is a claim filed in her office for "deposigatory" check fraud naming me as the respondent. She goes further by stating that it is imperative that she speak me or my attorney while it is still in the investigative stages. She said to call her at 888-315-8365 ext. 300 and when contacting her office refer to CE(some 3 digits starting with 9). Furthermore failure to contact will result in a decision being made on my behalf without my collaboration.

Now, first off, I looked up "deposigitory" and it is not a word! Secondly, this sounds like a law firm but, surprise, surprise, there is no website. Thank you 800notes! I was a little worried about this situation due to having one payday loan in collections after paying 3 times the original loan amount in fees. I was stupid, but never again. I refuse to fall for this malarkey. Thanks to the previous posts connected to the 888#, I am both relieved and angered by the audacity of these scam artists.

I tried to call the office at the 678# and waited for a receptionist but it went to voicemail for ext 309 and it sounded like the same person. Then I called the 888# and the phone greeting stated (in an English accent) that it was Kauffman, Hines, & Assoc, but then stated that if I had received a written notice to contact my local “magistrate.”  ??? I’m in Texas and area code 678 is Georgia. Okay… Then it said that if you have general questions to dial ext. 200 and I noticed most of the posts on the complaints stated that extension. I may call B.S. on this whole operation but I will not be calling back (accept maybe in morbid curiosity). Shenanigans!!!

I received a call from a lady named Francis Kennedy from Kaufman, Hines & Associates at phone # 678-819-4976 ext. 285.  She said I had a civil suit against me for check fraud and gave me a case # BF and three digits.  I know you have written that Kaufman Hines and Assoc. are a fraud, but this is a different phone # than the ones mentioned above.  I do have an outstanding payday loan that was taken because I was desperate.  IF YOU'VE NEVER TAKEN OUT A PAYDAY LOAN......PLEASE DON'T!!  It's a terrible mistakes and almost impossible to pay off.  So I was a little worried it was about that, but I think when you sign the contract for a payday loan it states that they cannot take you to court for check fraud.  I'll have to look into that.  But if anyone has received a call from this woman or from this # please let me know what you think.  Thanks!!!

Same thing happened to me. They told me that I had taken out a loan from the first bank of Delaware. when they went to pull the money out of my checking acount, the numbers that I had given them did not match. And that was fraud! And they would be downloading a law sute against me, my residence and my ssn number, if I did not pay them with a money gram with in 24 hrs. I didnt pay. no law sute was downloaded. go figure...

you should contact your originial creditor and verify if they have sent your account to that firm and what the status is before you post these messages.

If you do not have valid information to confirm that this is a scam, you should not post this for others to read and potentially put their livelyhood in jeopardy...

Google is not a reliable source. If this was a scam the Attorney General would have shut the company down....be informed and pay your debts.

Obviously, you are the scammer if you are using google to look for a way out of paying your debts.

Also, be well informed of your state laws...oh and deposigitory is not a word but depository is .... go figure

No...AG would NOT have shut the company down that easily. I have spoken to my states AG. These scam companies number spoof, so you never know where they're located. I receivd a call from a local number with the state's office. WHen I called it back, it was a fax number. I found the number & called the states office and they had no record of anything for me. Someone claiming to serve me papers. My dad got the same call. We both reported it to the AG office, fbi.gov & ftc.

I love how some people yell "pay your debts" as if everyone is as blessed as they are to be gainfully employed. Ever head of losing your job and going into debt? Oh, never happened to you? Well, it happens to people very day and life can become a living hell. You stop answering your phone after a while. No point.

Received a voice mail from a male from 678-666-5823 who stated in a very commanding number that I should call immediately regarding my unpaid payday loan that is in collections. I have no payday loans. This is a nothing but a scam to attempt to get your banking info. looks like the scammers themselves have been posting above under the names Johnny Logical" and "hahahah".

Investigator Sharon Ellison 678-666-5823 called our home trying to sound official stating there was fraud on my husbands SS#, turns out she's trying to collect a payday loan from another person with the same name as my husbands with a totally different SS#. My husband told her emphatically that the number was incorrect, however she was adamant that HE pay the debt. Unbelievable. I could see that he was starting to get shaky because he was trying not to flip so I took the phone and let her know we had been dealing with this for years. She got loud, so I got louder then she hung up on me because she didn't want to hear me tell her how to do her job, you know, do her due diligence. She then called my cell phone returning a call when we had attempted to call her earlier and I stated I just spoke to her and she said, "oh yeah, the ghetto one." So professional. So now I have her name and number. How long before I get her address?

It just happened to me too.  They have been attempting these scams for a long time.  I harass them by calling them constantly letting them know that since I'm in the Military, I'll pursue them with a civil suit.  I am so mad about this right now.  I'm so sick of petty individuals stealing SSN #s to try and scam money from people since they are too lazy to get a real job.
