    I received an email saying I had to call a UPS claims manager and to pay some tax on a package being held by Spanish customs. I contacted UPS and they confirmed it's a scam.

    got the same message did not bother to call ups, it was stinky outright. This crook put a nice british accent voice on the vmail to give it some kind of credibility. There are scammers who have a british acent too!!!

    I got the same email stating they're keeping my package in Spain.  They won't release it until I pay $119.  I knew it was a scam because I don't have anything being delivered to me.

    This is to notify you that your package has been intercepted and is temporarily being held in transit in Spain .The delivery process has been suspended for the following reasons.
    1. It has been detected that your package contains taxable items .
    2. In line with new laws, items transiting through the EU are to be fully taxed and are subject to postal inspection by transitting postal authorities.

    Concluding the verification on the package it has been ascertained that adequate tax was not paid on the package.

    Your name and email address were on the package for contact details.

    The contents have been ascertained as a non-risk item,however under new laws any package transiting through the EU is liable to full tax coverage

    payment.The sender did pay the appropriate courier fee but did not state the true value of the contents of

    I contacted ups and they told me it was a US Post Office reference and I should contract the US Post Office direct.

    I believe it to be a scam as so many people have recieved the same message

    Just got the same e-mail message with the same phone #.  This is a sneaky guy as the address he is using is the address for UPS corporate office.  What a creep!

    Got the same message. Just so happen I'm expecting a delivery for a purchase I made on line.
    Fortunately, I immediately recognized it as a SCAM.

    I recived this letter at the same time I got some issues with DHL and the US Costoms, so I got full by the scammer and send my private information to them, fortunately I stop the payments from my debit card and I requested a new debit card with different number.

    This is the letter I recived from the scammer:

    I received the exact same email...word for word.  The thing that immediately jumped out was the 119 dollar tax (same as the others) on a 79 dollar item.  I find it hard to believe anyone would fall for this crap!

    It is still going on...  I have received the same message yesterday.  However I am really waiting for a parcel from US sent through UPS, so I was a little bit disconcerted.  So many thanks for all your comments.

    Also received this message, saw the scam right away, as nothing from Spain was ordered. Scammers are always looking for the easy way.

    I got the exact same message...went to the the Post Office...they knew nothing about it. Checked with UPS and they now have a disclaimer on their web site acknowledging the fact that they have had a problem and to be aware of scammers.
