- annoyed| 1 replyThe called and left a message about i job i had applied for and when i called back i kept hearing the same recording for over 5 minutes... sounds like a scam and i will have a large phone bill soon for falling for it since noby answered. This expoits the unemployed and should be shut down immediately!!!!!!!
- John replies to annoyedMe too ... sounds like a scam
- Jill| 2 repliesThis was a call center calling to "verify the factuals of my employment history".
First, let me preface by saying that I was laid off about 10 months ago. I'm desperate for a job. I am also really skilled at spotting a fake job ad - the ones that employment agencies continually post on job boards like careerbuilder and monster that aren't actually jobs, but they might some day have a temp job that will fit the ad. I only apply to the ones that seem legit, and this one did.
Since an actual phone number came up on my caller ID, I answered. Yes, it was out of my area code, but I am applying for corporate and government jobs, so there's a chance that the job I apply for in downtown Chicago will have a hiring manager in another state.
When I answered, I heard a recording telling me to please hold while they connect me to a career opportunity specialist. The thing is, this recording is really good, and you will think it is a real person...until she connects you to another recording that says, "Thank you for calling! We value your business, and a career opportunity specialist will be with you shortly."
Now I am annoyed. So I wait to speak to the person who will undoubtedly try to sell me something. Her name is Laurie.
"Yeah, can I talks to Jill?"
"This is."
"Hi, this is Laurie calling from Career Network. I'm calling to verify the factualizations on your resume."
"What?"
"I need to verify the factualizations on your resume. You applied for a job that we posted on July 23rd, and I need to verify the factualizations."
"For what company?"
"That's private information." (PRIVATE, not confidential.)
"I've never had a call center contact me to verify anything on my resume. I'm surprised that a company wouldn't have their HR department do that, or at least do that after an interview."
"If the facts is true, then they'll want to interview yous."
I told her I would call her back, and came to the computer and searched for "Career Network". They have 143 complaints on the RipoffReport. never mind.
This also happening with Craiglist.Org. Lately everyone is out to scam everyone and we who need jobs are getting it big time. Someone really needs to put a stop to it.
But beware - they obviously didn't have Laurie write the job ad. It looked legit. Just a reminder to never, ever give your personal information to anyone over the phone. Especially not an employer.- Caller: Career Network
- Jack replies to JillGreat information Jill. Another good idea is to not respond to any ads on Career Builder, Monster, etc. that are posted with a "Confidential" employer name. If the job ad is legitimate, the company posting the ad is going to want all the publicity/marketing that it can get for spending $250-$300 for that job posting.
If the posting has a company name associated with it, do a search on it. Then visit their web site to see if they have a "Career Opportunities" page on their site. This is the BEST way to apply for positions online. Go straight to the source. - BBB Complaints - AVOID - Rating of FFFFF678-791-4200
If you applied for a job through:
Apple Staffing
Skilledjobseekers.org
Career Network
....these are horrible people calling you! They are located out of Orlando, Fl.
They called to get more info, even wanting a social....NO!!!
Here is the link to their BBB Report:
http://www.orlando.bbb.org/newsearch2.asp?ComID=073300030454344
THEIR RATING IS AN F! AN FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!
THEY HAVE BEEN OPEN ONE YEAR AND HAVE ALREADY LOGGED 57 COMPLAINTS!
They are now operating under the name 3 Stars, Inc., but have also gotten 6 complaints at that name (just since 10/08). As the BBB warns, they operate "under a variety of different names," and even the BBB doesn't understand "exactly what they do."
STAY AWAY!- Caller: Career Network, Three Stars, Apple Staff

- Noneoftheirbusiness! replies to JillI just called the Network, I know I applied with Apple Employment Agents. I think the real reason for the call is to sighn people up for school.
If you get this message and they want you to call back DONT waste of time!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN THE JOB MARKET!!!!! - upsetI received a call on my cell phone saying that they were an employment varification service checking on a recent application which i had applied for a job.I did not go thru the whole process with them, I hung up and would not wait for the actual party to come on the line. It justed sounded bogus and it's a shame that people whom are seriously looking for employment should have to deal with such rude, inconsiderate companies as this one appears to be. This happened this am on August6,2009.
- Apso they just called me saying the same thing u guys are saying...but the only difference is that i didn't fill out any application today which is what they said! now i have search the number and i found these comments! i'm pretty sure its a scam! don't ever call them back! i usually look up the number first anyways espcially if its out of state!

- JesterI have received several calls from this network. All of them are from different area codes around the country. I have listened to the recording but have not once been able to talk to a live body. I find it very difficult to believe that a computer would call me at all hours of the day (and weekend) and then be too busy to connect me with a screener.
I am aware that systems like this exist. However as soon as you pick up you are directed to an available operator and usually you have no knowledge that the switch occurred other than the brief pause between your hello and when the telemarketer answers.- Caller: Career Network
- seekingjobI'm so glad I gave this a search. I applied to some job listings online and got a call from a recording. It said they got my app and to call them back. Wierd! Anyway I won't be appling like that online again.

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2009/03/job_scams.html - kennethfskI wish to thank everyone in here for taking the time to report this company, I too have been contacted by the so called career network company wanting to verify info on me. I am naturally a suspicious person so before I called back I came to this web site to verify the number and found all these comments. Needless to say I will not be calling them back. So again thank you for saving me the head ache of it all.
