Akville - 6 Apr 2007Received a call last month. A woman said she is calling from Mann Bracken Attorneys at Law, and asked to speak to me. I asked her what the call is in reference to, and she said she first needs to ask me a few questions. I refused to answer any questions before she explains the reason for the call. and now they are calling me non-stop.

Susan - 21 Mar 2008It's not the attorneys that are working that late, it's the loser collection agents they hire to torment you day and night with their phone calls. I'm getting phone calls from them now regarding a debt with Target. I'm in the process of sending them a "cease and desist" letter. Hopefully, that will help.

Mia - 4 Apr 2008I also got calls on behalf of my disabled husband. I was told by her that she already KNEW what he owns. I stated that he does not own anything and she replied, "that is not what I have here". I let her know in tears, that it was only a house with three mortgages on it. Meanwhile, in my state you can't put a judgment against a house being deeded and mortgaged in both spouse's names. I turned her over to my lawyer. Do yourself a favor everyone, just ask a lawyer to deal with them.

and dont take no for an answer... better to do it when you are bored... have some fun. But just because they bend the rules, don't bend them yourself...
Or if you really want to get them, set up a recording device on your phone and(check in your state what is legal, it's on the internet somewhere)record the conversations... you don't even have to tell them your recording. If you get tired of them, tell them "Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law". After all it is part of the miranda warning that all police have to read when they make an arrest. Once you say it, if they continue, what they say will more likely give you the ability to use it if it gets to court.
There are 2 types of collection agencies, the kind that harrass you and the kind that take you to court. It's usuall they are one or the other... sounds like Mann & Bracken is the first kind... they haunt you till you pay and won't stop till you do.
So call them when you like and bug them for info. You might get lucky and get someone new why might tell you things they don't want us to know.
Then publish it on the net...

I did send a letter to the collection agency asking them to stop calling me and to work with me in setting up a payment plan, now I get this? So, did the collection agency ignore my letter and send me over to these creeps? I will admit I am extremely embarassed by my credit card debt, but I do not deserve to be harassed by money hungry attonerys.

You can look up Budhibbs.com and they have good info for this type of thing. Tell them only respond by mail. You have this right per the FTC. Or report to the attorney generals office and FTC also.

Eleanor - 12 Mar 2008Got a call 3/12 at 8:30 a.m. Said they from Mann Bracken and that even though "you are retired, we can and will get your social security check unless you pay this bill in full." I offered to make arrangements for payments each month since I am raising two grandchildren and their reply was "we don't care about any grandchildren" and "we don't care if you only get social security" either "pay this bill or we will have your social security check next month." I do not believe they can touch my social security check by law but they are very rude and obnoxious people and even told me I was a liar saying my only income was social security.

Susan - 21 Mar 2008Don't let them harass you like that. We DO have rights. Report them to the Federal Trade Commission and the State Attorney General Office. If all fails, I suggest you disconnect your phone and get an unlisted number. I wish a bunch of us could get together and file a class action suit against these leeches. Not only Mann Bracken, but also NCO Financial....another group of bloodsuckers!!! I can't stand any of them. Why don't they all go and get "real" jobs!!!

YOU REALLY DON"T WANT TO TALK TO THEM AT ALL YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY THE WRONG THING COULD RENEW YOUR ACCOUNT. knowwhatyoumean - 19 Jul 2008Not real attorneys? They filed a law suit against my daughter in superior court. They sheriff served her with papers. I called the court and they said it's VERY real. My daughter needs a lawyer to go into superior court. The clerk said not to bother, they will win anyway. The judges just automatically award them judgements to get them out of court fast. They don't want to be bothered with hearing excuses. Do I call this justice? No. Can they do this? Yes. They STILL call here, called 5 minutes ago. I didn't answer.
For the people getting silence on voice mail, it's an automatic dialer. They don't pick up til someone says HELLO. I get the same thing, very annoying, since I have a cell phone and pay for minutes.
