we got the same kind of calls saying they are filing a suit. I looked them up and they are in Atlanta GA. THey are totalling breaking the law.

My sister who lives in TN also recieved a call from this number from someone by the name of Maxine Billings who was threatening her to give them my info, and that a case had been filed against me, gave her a case number, and told her that if I did not return call that the sheriffs office would be making a visit to me. I live in Fl. I did call the number. They would not tell me who they were, what they wanted, and when I started to push for answers of who they were, they hung up on me. Sounds like a scam, if it was on the up and up why would they have to hide who they are?

They have called my whole family with the name Sharon Black as a contact. I called the # back and had a field day with them people.

They are using simple skip trace methods of finding someone.....it is so easy to do.
Basically what they do is buy your debt from someone else for pennies on the dollar and then try to collect from you....

Here is the bottom line.....but this varies from state to state.
In my state SC, it is illegal to threaten legal action if you dont intend to do so, and it is impossible for them to file suit for your property. They can file a judgement against you for the money, but have no other recourse. Simply put, dont worry about it.

In fact what they are doing and you can sue them for it. Its like 30k for each offense.

Ashley Thatcher from this number called me and left a message for my father, who doesn't even live with me. The message was very threatening and said there was a compliant against him and if we didn't call their office there would be legal action. I called the office to follow up and spoke with a guy named Tim. When I suggested that this entire situation seemed a little suspicious, he began yelling at me, told me never to call his office again, and then hung up on me.

Brittany Gibson from this number called me looking for information about my father. Claimed that my number was listed as an emergency contact. My father doesn't even know my home number, only my cell. If they had me as an emergency contact, why wouldn't they already have this information on him? He lives 14 hours away from me. This sounds like some kind of scam to me. I have filed a complaint with Do Not Call Registry. Hopefully someone will look into these people.

This lady left a message on our machine saying that a complaint was filed against me and that I needed to return the call asap with this case number. Of course they're closed now because, their recorder says they are on the east coast.

I received a similar call from 678-916-5966 saying I was being sued for fraud by U.S. Bank. Case number and everything too. I actually called U.S. Bank corporate offices to verify and they have NOTHING on record. I was told I could take the "affidavit" package and then pay the amount and then try to reclaim my money if I felt I was wrong or go to court in my county.

I received 3 messages from these people regarding my mother whom lives across town, saying she had a civil suit filed against her with a case number. The third message was actually rude. I started doing some research online. The reverse phone number came up with no business name, no address, no name. I might have to call them now to tell them to go f**k themselves.
