Just got this phone call. Message was automated from "Rachel with Cardmember Services. There is currently no problem with your card, but it's important you contact us immediately about your eligibility to reduce your credit card rate."

    So basically: Spam.

It was "Rachel". They called this morning. I got to speak with a woman. She was nice, but said I didn't qualify. I played a xxx movie close to the phone while she was on. She probably stayed on the phone longer than she usually does. Love messing with these people.

"Rachel" from "Cardmember Services" is a recorded message.  At the end of her spam, I had a simple question: "Which card?"  Happily, I was offered to press "1" to speak with a Live Representative!

It rang maybe 8 times, before I got through. And once the dude got through *his* spiel, I asked that question.  His response was that he didn't represent *any* card, and that the "credit bureau" had forwarded my call to him.  I pressed again, urging that the call *I* received specified that there was a particular card in question, but did not name it, that all I wanted to know was which one.  Eventually, they ended the call.  THEY hung up on ME.

So, there was some major scamming being attempted there…

I also pressed one. When a woman answered stating simply "card services", I asked "what company are you with?" and she hung up immediately.

This number called my mobile phone; left no message.  I'm getting lots of calls from various numbers & tired of just adding them one-by-one to my "Block" list; any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Yes I did exactly the same thing before. That's the only advantage I can take from those a**holes, if they are female.

I use earbuds and put one earbud close to the mic of cell phone. That way I play the sound on phone without disturb anyone else.

These idiots call at all  hours - called tonight after 9 p.m. These calls are coming to a cell phone with limited minutes. I am on the do not call list, but that doesn't stop these calls.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I just tried to call the number back and I got a error message stating that the number I called was incorrect. I really wish these damn telemarketers would quit calling my phone. It's starting to become an irritating thing, everyday like this.

Keep getting a call from this number. Driving me crazy. A garbled recording or something. How do I make them quit?

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocker device, service or app.
    Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information, or visit Amazon or similar sales site.

If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
    * Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service

    * Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
    http://www.forbes.com/sites/josephsteinberg/2 ... des-its-a-scam/

    * If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.

    * Another option, for both smart and "dumb" cell phones:  Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers.  That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact!  You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number!

Replying to Chris, these scam artists are out for one thing: Your Money!!!  They want to know your credit card # under the sales pitch of reducing your interest rate. Don't give them that information. They'll clean you out electronically. Only the place where you got your credit card is authorized to lower your interest rate or increase your credit limit.

Pressed 1 - ask to be removed from calling list and was promptly hung up on!  I added them to the reject list on my phone.  Would LOVE to know what company or scam this is!
