- SCAM BY PHONE| 1 replyPlease be careful. This is a scam. Someone from American Express is calling asking you for money. Please avoid this phone number.
- Same thingCaller ID gave the name Hunter Carylon. Called twice within 3 hours. First time no message second call left vm saying urgent matter with AMEX and to call back with card number
- MMM| 1 replyI think this is actually American Express because I missed my payment and they are calling to get me to send it in. I didn't answer the phone because I wasn't home but I sent the payment and doubt they will call again once it has been received and processed.
- Call type: Debt collector
- jazzman77 replies to MMMFolks, this IS a SCAM phone#!! This is NOT really American Express calling you!! Please..... don't think this is AMEX when clearly...all they want is your AMEX# and other vital info. The FBI truly should be on top of this one!
- GreggYep, they called me too, three times in 1 day. They say they are from Amex. I dont have one
- TommieI said Hello and they hung up
- matthewThe calls is really American Express. My account has been past due for 30 days. I called back the number on the back of my card to discuss my account and they call when an account is past due for 30 days.
- Caller: AMEX
- Call type: Event reminder
- JoshThis is not American Express..... They called three times answered the third time they hung up. Called AMEX my account is not past due nor is it over limit or anything like that. AMEX verified that they did not call me and that my account was in good standing. This is a Las Vegas number... AMEX does not have a call center there.
- NickI don't even have an american express card and they call and leave no message.
- nhgalCalled the number, it says american express and says to enter the 15 digit card number now..... I sat there on the line. man answered sayinghe was american express, asked me formy card number and whom he was speaking too.... I replie dback stupid, said I dnt have an amex card ( I do I have three cards etc) he apologized, said "a customer must have give a wrong number or it was an old number, please give me the number we called and I will have you removed." gave him my cell # they called and hopefully it will go away.

- Not a scam numberI have two American Express cards and have fallen on hard times. This number is calling both work and personal cell even though we are working with their hardship services. It is AMX trying to get past due money.
- Caller: American Express
- Call type: Debt collector
- UnsureI got the call too - three times, once with a message, caller ID Carylon Hunter. I have an AMEX and am a few weeks late, but not yet "officially" late. I suspect also that it is a scam because it is ILLEGAL for a legit debt collector to call with a false caller ID. If it is AMEX, the caller ID needs to say AMEX, not C Hunter, Private, Unknown, etc. Thanks for all who have posted - good info to have!!
- Caller: Unsure
- RRMale, claiming to be from American Express, wanted me to give him my bank information to make a payment on my card. I found it strange that the caller ID stated the call was from a "Carolyn Hunter" with a Las Vegas area code. When I stated that I have my payments made directly from my bank to AMEX through their corporate website, he said he "didn't have access to that information". When I asked him to confirm who he was, he couldn't give me any of my actual AMEX account info. Obviously, give them nothing if you get a call from this number. I have reported it to AMEX as well as local law enforcement.
- Caller: They say its American Express - doubtful
- Steve replies to SCAM BY PHONEThis is not a scam. They called me this morning and I did not answer and Googled it and saw this site. After that I called the number on the back of my card and made a payment. About an hour later this number called again so I answered it and they thanked me for my payment.
- Kat| 1 replyCalled at 8:30 am, 12:00 and again at 6:17 in one day.
They ask for me to give my AE # and then tell me to call another number. I called AE and they did not have me down for any to be called or red flags. I added this number to the do not call reg for my phone number. And I entered that number in my phone as spam so when it does come up for a while, It will show as thus. They dont even leave a message.- Caller: no id
- Anonym replies to KatThis is amex...I just called and cancelled all four of my accounts.
Good-bye "Mr. Hunter" - paigeThey say they are from AMEX, and as a coincidence I missed my payment two days ago (sent it yesterday) So i thought it might be a legit deal...until I realized that they were calling my husbands cell phone, his WORK cell phone! My AMEX acct is strictly my own and there is no way AMEX would know my husbands private work cell number. IT IS A PHISHING SCAM!!!!! anybody who says otherwise is probably in the same coincidence boat as I am -let's face it, these criminals are smart and they know lot's of people have an AMEX acct and in this economy lot's of us are behind....the odds are in their favor which is why they set up this scam! think people!! think!!
Pay you AMEX acct on the phone only when YOU DIAL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER!!!! DON"T TRUST ANYBODY WHO CALLS YOU!!!! PLEASE FOLKS! PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THOSE THAT WANT YOUR MONEY! - WAKE_UPDidn't answer called a 7am eastern if it was Amex from vegas that would make it 3am. call centers don't work at 3am. but just wanted all to know that mine came up as a CELLULAR CALL. Not late on any cards. Hope they call back cause I love to have some fun with them. you should all make it a habit that even if you get a call from a legit company you should always call the number on the back of your card or on you billing statment. AWAYS. Phishing doesn't just happen online anymore. And if you get scammed it willtake a long time to correct. causing you lot's of HARDSHIP. Be Afraid Very Afraid when anyone wants any INFO ON YOU. GOOD LUCK
