This is the car warranty scam - The company owners should be hung in the public square for all to view, then after several days they should be bled to death or some other horrid painful death for preying on the older mature easily confused US telephone recipient.
This company is calling random phones with a auto dialer that provides false phone numbers. The auto dialer does not distinguish between land lines and cell phones. Using an auto dialer to place phone calls to cellular phones is a violation of the Law...
Quote" Re: Plagued by telemarketing calls? 850-473-1276 <---- is a disconnected number - and it is being used by a marketing firm to pitch a credit card scam - This companies sales pitch seems to be set -up to search for oblivious older people who answer the phone. They will hang-up if you are not an older person for them to sell their worthless product...
Marketers dialing Cell Phone numbers is a violation of the Law...
FCC regulations (47 CFR Sec. 64. 1200) prohibit anyone from using an automated dialer or prerecorded or artificial voice (telemarketers routinely use these technologies) to call any number assigned to cell phone service or any service for which the called party is charged for the incoming call (as is often the case with cell phone service). These restrictions do not apply to calls made for an emergency purpose or when the called party has given his prior express consent.
In addition, the regulations bar anyone from making a call to a residential line of any type using an artificial or prerecorded voice with the prior express consent of the called party. These restrictions do not apply to calls: 1. made for emergency purposes, 2. made for noncommercial purposes, 3. made for commercial purposes that do not include an unsolicited advertisement or a telephone solicitation, 4. made by or on behalf of nonprofit organization, and 5. made by entity with whom the called party has already established a business relationship. Finally, telemarketing calls cannot be made to residential lines before 8 a. m. or after 9 p.m."
They give the name of Consumer Direct Warranty and the warranty service center. They have been calling me for months. CDWS is in Las Vegas and Redding CA. Of course, why would they give their real name and then hang up.
I have friends in Nevada and when I saw a missed call on my company's work cellphone I got very worried and of course thought the worse, especially so early in the morning. Everyone there is fine after scaring them to death after a early morning phone call from me. Probably no way to stop these calls but now I know not every call I get from a 702 number is doom and gloom.
This company is caleld Warranty Services and claim that can re-issue or re-extend warranties on ANY car. They claim they are affiliated with every car company out there. However, when they called I asked to speak with the main supervisor in charge to have him directly remove me from the list - IF ANYBODY WISHES TO BE REMOVED CALL EITHER TWO OF THESE NUMBERS: DANIELLE WILSON - 888-282-3524 X4213 RODNEY (SUPERVISOR) - 888-758-2898 X4220
They also informed me that they are NOT the only company out there trying to offer warranties. They have a great deal of competition so don't be surprised once you receive a call of the same nature after requesting to be removed from THEIR calling list.
Rodney is no longer employed by these folks. We receive at least 4-5 telemarketer calls on our business line a day. When we ask them to remove us they hang up before you even get the word remove me out of your mouth. Today I asked to speak to a representative and was moved to a gentleman on the phone who said he hired a telemarketing firm and he was not responsible for the calls.. I said you are responsible, since they are hired by your firm.. then this woman chimes in and starts saying "F" you, F you, F you.. (our digital recording phone system here makes a perfect voice recordings). I have just submitted a formal complaint with the AG's office here in Rhode Island. Time to fight back!!!
How can I report this number to someone that will do something about this? These people have called several times to my phone. I stayed on the line so that I could speak to a representative and then he hung up on me. There should be some sort of fee penalty for this sort of thing. I am okay with sales calls but this is misleading.
These guys have called me a number of times and I wanted to play with them a little bit. Usually if you ask a few questions, they hang up on you.
First, this block of phone numbers comes from Digicom Services, which provides 'disposable' phone numbers to scam artists like these guys. Their information is:
12923 Venice Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066 Phone (310) 358-7000 (800) 464-5446 Fax (310) 437-4105
I spoke with Chris Georger. They were good enough to offer me a three year extended warranty on my (make-beleive) car (2003 Chevy Impala LS) for $2995 ($495 of it up front, 208.33 a month). Even if they weren't in a boiler room somewhere in Las Vegas, that is about half the trade-in value of the car today, much less in three years when the warranty is supposed to end. He told me that I could find the contract information at www.royaladmin.com but none of the information emailed to me has Royal Admin on it anywhere, which makes me question whether or not they are actually affiliated.
The email they sent me comes from mail@directprotectwarranty.com. There is a website for directprotectwarranty.com, I tried calling the toll-free that is on the website (which is differnt than the number Chris gave me) When I asked for Chris Georger, I did get connected, so at least they are keeping that part of their story straight. Nowhere on the website is there any location information - no names, no addresses... a Whois search of the domain is privacy protected.
A Google search of directprotectwarranty is kinda interesting: There is a Google posting for MemorialCare Health Centers looking for Extended Warranty Reps. I am afraid to ask what kind of extended warranty a hospital would be trying to sell, but my guess is that someone posted the job using a hacked Monster account. http://jobview.monster.com/GetJob.aspx?JobID=71344192&WT.mc_n=jobscomview The posting had a phone number 714-415-7500 - Googling this number comes back with a number of interesting businesses in Orange County, CA like 'Morgage Bang' (really). Calling this number gets you a very helpful receptionist at C1F Marketing, another one of these awesome virtual companies with a website and a phone number, but no contact information, no street address, and a privacy hidden. C1F Marketing styles itself as a 'Voice Broadcasting' company (read: 'Robo-Telemarketing'). The receptionist didn't know who Chris Georger was.
Okay, seriously, if this didn't look like a scam before, it really does now. This information will go to the appropriate consumer protection agencies of my home state and California.
And yes, I really did give them the name Bartholomew Simpson - maybe they can sell me a warranty on my skateboard... !Ay Carrumba! It was hard not to giggle when they kept calling me Mr. Simpson.
I've received over a dozen automated calls on my cell phone from phone numbers 702-520-XXXX (Las Vegas, NM). I finally spoke with Darr and Delme (spelling may be incorrect). Darr told me the company website is: www.consumerdirectwarranty.com. This may be part of the scam. The caller lied about a number of things, such as the reason he couldn't provide a call back number (statistics show that 70% of the people that call back have existing car problems). The caller claimed to offer an extended "factory" warranty, but I know for a fact that there is only one Saab extended factory warranty and it is called Universal. When I asked about mailing a check (in order to get an address), I was asked to provide the check routing # (to pay) over the phone. When I offered my address to have information mailed to me, the caller hung up.
I have reported this information to the FCC along with the info kindly provided by John Warner.
They call my house about three times per week, but from different 702-520 numbers. I've received about three of these calls on my cell phone in the past two months. Caller ID Varies. Other caller ID names have been "American Management" "private suite" and "private office".
