Got a text from this number in the middle of the night... This is a scammer

This is a scam just ignore this number don't evend reply or give your name address or PO box number. Be very cautious. They call them self "Nicolas" and tell you if you don't reply I'll report you to FBI

I had an item for sale online with my phone number written phonetically.  Received a text message from Nicolas asking for my name and address so he could send me a check for payment.  I was surprised to see the comments associated with this number.

Someone calling themselves Nicolas texted me from this number in regard to a craigslist ad.  Now I see these other posts and am very suspicious. Will not deal with this number again, and others shouldn't either.

Received an early morning text from this out-of-state scammer. I have an ad on Craigslist.

Message:

"(my item for sale) - still available for sale? Sorry so late.. Nicolas"

I didn't answer.

Well dang it!!!  I was really needing the money for my item on craigslist :-(  bummer, after we got an early morning msg from "Nicolas" asking if my item was still for sale and "sorry so late", we replied with yes, but get right back cuz someone else has called...and he did. With the same "I'll send you a check...yaddayadda" but i still had hope even tho in the back of my mind I'm like"ya, scam" do i sent him this reply " Nicolas...tho i am understanding of people having busy lives, and i don't mind arranging for someone to come pick it up on your behalf, i just cannot take a check. I will only work with cash because of the tricky people out there that try to pull scams, hope you understand, not trying to be difficult ;-) i don't mind holding it for you for a day or two for the extra $40 so You can have the person with whom you entrust pick it up for you bring the cash at that time. That also doesn't put any stress on me in case something happens whilst waiting for someone to pick it up after you've already paid for it, you see? ...the total will be $640. Please advise the name of your person with whom you authorize to represent you and also their number, i will then contact them directly so we can work out the logistics of the pick up time. "  ...and then i came to this site...well phooey...I'll advise if there's any further replies...just for s'n'g :-)  thank you to those of you that took the time to post

Will give an extra $40 for responding...etc. TOTAL SCAM.

Received a text from "Nicolas" offering to send me a check for my item on craig list and an extra $40 to hold it for him.  When I asked him to call me about the details of the payment and pick up no response. Then another text asking for my mailing address to send me the check and for me to take my post off craigs list. When I responded back with cash only lets just say Nicolas was not very nice.....SCAM

Had an ad on CL and "Nicolas" sent me a response stating - still available? Sorry so late. Then said he would send a check plus an extra $40 for me to hold my product. Wanted my full name and mailing address. When I responded back that I could meet him at his bank for the transaction I received no further responses.
I have noticed several comments on other web sites related to this name and number. Don't give this person any information!!

Craigslist is not eBay. It's social media selling. Person to person, in person, cash & carry. Beware of requests to use Paypal, checks, money orders, (overpayment in both cases) & the request to use 3rd party shippers.

Nicholas Is now using other numbers my bank is going after him i wish i would have seen this before i put in my bank plus all the money its cost me ,i have to keep blocking all the different numbers he's texting me from

Within minutes after posting an ad on SF CraigsList, I recieved a text from this scammer. It seemed way too soon to be getting responses to my posting. I guess I am naturally suspicious. I checked and  this is what I found. I blocked the number with Mr. Number after returning his text with a "not so nice" reply.

I want my money back that this man Nicholas has cost me an overdraft fees at my baNk

Did he actually send you a check?

Received same messages from "Ronnie" this afternoon. Same markers: craigslist as, will send check, will make arrangements, $40 extra offered to hold item (a $400 TV), please send him name and address, blah blah blah. Blocked him. "Ronnie"-- if you're  patrolling these boards, take a hike bro.

I got the same reply from "Ronnie" today minutes after posting my ad.  Same spiel about $40 extra to hold the item.  He was intent on giving him my address, which was unusual, so I looked up the number and came across this forum.

Got the same thing from this #. Ronnie. $40 hold the truck on cl for him. Seen this forum and glad I did. I figured something was up. Thanks everyone

Nicholas is now Ronnie...Same scam     I will give you 40 dollars more if you hold item for me..I pay you in "checks" and arrange shipping...I texted back to f@@ck off you scamming piece of s%^T...

Well darn it! Wish I would have found this forum sooner.  I just had an encounter with this "Ronnie" fella! Same spill...offers  $40.00 extra and believe it or not mails an absolute rediculious amount of fraudulent check. I'm glad I read this forum before I went any further on this matter!! Thank you for putting out all this good info!!
