Ditto!  Responded to Graigslist ad.  Wanted to buy item sight-unseen, as asked price, plus $20 "to keep them in favor."  Would send cashiers check or such and arrange for pickup at a later date.....

Clearly a scam.

Was texted by this phone number, wanted to buy my car sight unseen for my asking price plus $20.00 to Keep them in favor, promised cashiers check would be mailed "tomorrow" and tracking number would follow.

Why doesnt the phone carrier do something? [***]

Under the Common Carrier rules governing phone companies, they cannot interfere with a call unless asked by those receiving unwanted calls. They are also not required to even offer call blocking, paid or free, if they do not wish to. For under $100 you can buy a call blocking device or phone that will help eliminate these nuisance calls.
