I got a voice mail telling me this was the IRS and I should call them back or else.  Man had a heavy accent. FYI,to all, the IRS NEVER EVER calls.  Only letters.

Just got the same call in Florida from 703-459-9372 that they were from the "Audit Department" and it was imperative they hear from us, or our attorney immediately.  Caller had very heavy accent.
Funny thing is.... I just filed our Federal taxes hours early using TurboTax eFile = Hmmmmm?

TAKEN OFF THE IRS.GOV website: You receive a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS but you suspect they are not an IRS employee …, Record the employee's name, badge number, call back number and caller ID if available.
Call 1-800-366-4484 to determine if the caller is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you.
If the person calling you is an IRS employee, call them back.
If not, report the incident to TIGTA and to us at phishing@irs.gov (Subject: 'IRS Phone Scam')

Got a call  on 02/13/15 at 12:22 pm a man with a very thick middle eastern accent ,the location said Virginia, he told me his name was James Anderson and he was an officer from the IRS. I kept saying "what?", he was beginning to get very irritated with me so me hung up. So tired of these idiots.

I also got a call, within 20 minutes of electronically filing my tax return with Turbotax. It was an automated guy with a thick accent, that at first sounded like a live guy. Because I have voice mail, the beginning of his message was cut off. He said something about "legal petition notice regarding tax fraud" and went on to say  "if I don't hear from you or your attorney either, then all I can do is wish you luck as this situation unfolds on you."

Called twice today about 3 hours apart.  Figured it was a telemarketer/scam but answered anyway.  Nobody was on the other end either time.

This number has called me multiple times over the past few days despite me being on the federal do not call list, never says anything when I answer.

Transcript from Vonage:

"This is an automated system generated message from IRS and you're subjected to receive this message. Even if your number reason-asleep(?). We're a national do not call list. Our attempt to notify you why certified mail had returned undelivered resulting in to a lawsuit to be prosecuted against your name without the need of trial on account-council(?) fraudulent for no tax filing to know your tax outstanding contact our audit department on 703-459-9372. I repeat it's 703-459-9372 before any legal actions are taken to forcefully recover the amount unpaid. Thank you."

IRS Scam call 4/28/2015 to my phone in Ohio

Just received a call from this number, calling themselves Revenue office. I asked this hard to
Understand voice what the Revenue Office is ? The answer IRS and needed to speak to my daughter before she is arrested.

I asked the basic law questions, such as Notification, is there a Warrent ? Then asked for his
Badge number. He got some frustrated he hung up the phone.

This is a pure scam. The IRS does everything in writing. If you read or listen to the news in the last tax season 8 million calls to them went unanswered. They don't call you or have the manpower to answer calls.

Bogus IRS call. I have 32 years of experience dealing with the IRS. Asked for a supervisor got transferred 3 times and hung up on when I asked for their IRS ID number. Just like I have a PTIN I have to renew every year to file returns.

I also received a called twice this morning.  The first time just say "good bye", and the second time I can barely understand, but they said they were calling from the IRS.  I ask to speak with manager because I do not understand.  They hung up.  I will block this number.

Received 2 calls (messages on my answering machine) from this number saying they were from the IRS, and hadn't been able to reach us by certified mail.  Threats of being prosecuted, etc.  Annoying.  IRS won't call.

Got a call today from someone with an Indian accent asking for family member.  I asked for the purpose of the call and the guy said it was confidential.  When I further challenged him he hung up.  Too bad, I was going to give him my SSN, all my credit card information and banking information including PIN numbers and passwords.  Oh well, his loss.

HARASSMENT BY IRS SCAM

Left message on answering service, strong accent , claiming we better have a criminal attorney because taxes filed improperly.. message addressed my mother by name, strange.. checked out with reverse search and discovered this number is subject of 100's of similar complaints  .. my mother very shaken up and scared .. I suppose these MF's must actually get money out of other scared senior citizens because she probably would have called this sob back,.

I received four recorded messages again over the day with the same exact info.  This is the 2nd time this has occurred, but this time, they said "even if you're on the do not call registry . . ."  I wonder how many bites they do get to keep wasting their energy!

FYI. I just got a call from a man in a very crowded room. He said he was one of the investigators for the tax fraud and needed more information.  He knew too much but I was very suspicious so I told him nothing.  The man said he wanted me to call him back.  They have to be reported. Very heavy accent and room sounded like there were a 1000 people making calls.

Just got the same number to call me again. He told me that my taxes were filed incorrectly and that he needed to verify all my information for my 2014 return. I laughed and said "joke is on you !!.. i haven't filed yet !!.. and he hung up... idiot

Received a call today @ 11:39 Eastern time,  clearly from a call center, I know, I worked in one. Man with a foreign accent said he was calling from the IRS. Have received other calls like this one. Told me he would fill out the information. I am going to look into filing a lawsuit. These calls come to my house phone. I have signed on-line to the DO NOT CALL list to no avail.
