Just received an IRS call, sounds like a scam

I've had the same experience. They leave an automated message about an IRS lawsuit. I called back and some guy picked up claiming they were the IRS. The IRS haven't sent me anything in the mail. I doubt they'd call instead.

Do not answer. I also received it from the # 516-246-7106. It is a scam!

They (the scammers) prefer untraceable means of payment.

The IRS will not call you. They send letters via US Mail. The IRS won't ask you to pay in i-Tunes cards. The IRS will not wish you "good luck as the situation unfolds". Trust yourself and your instincts - do not let a bully intimidate you by threats that are nothing but hot air (and bad breath). This is a SCAM.

Do not answer calls you don't know and never call them back.

Robocall said it was from the IRS. Said a lawsuit is about to be filed against me. The IRS will NEVER initiate contact by phone. This is a scam to get you to send them money to 'settle" the matter.

Robocall hung up on them but the area code and exchange were the same as my company so o called back. Very heavy Indian/Pakistani accent said he was from the criminal investigation division.  Wouldn't say from where unless I have him my name. I hung up

This is a recorded call from someone reporting to be the IRS and about to file a lawsuit.  This is a SCAM!
