Got the same call heavy accent saying same thing about irs, said it was against me and then when they found out I was stay at home mom then they said it was against my husband who I've been separated from since 2009

Caller claims to be with the IRS and claims that I "law suit" has been filed against me.  I am okay with the real IRS.

Left voicemail. Indian accent. Claimed to be the IRS and insisted I call back "the very second" I received the message. "A lawsuit has been filed against you." Yeah....do people actually fall for this??

Obviously it does or they wouldn't still be using it. If you shut down any answering devices and let the phone ring, you hear nothing from these crooks at all. If you want to see something helpless, imagine a scammer without anyone to try and trick.

Same as below.  Indian accent, IRS, lawsuit SCAM.  If these people actually spent as much time working on a real job they could make twice as much money.  I want a reverse phone BLASTER that will retrace and track the SCAMMERS phone, then FRY it's electronics.  I'd pay BIG money for that.

I just got a message from a woman with an Indian accent. She did not leave a name or who the message was for. The IRS has a lawsuit against me. I must call the minute I received this. Oh, she ended the nasty threatening call with 'Have a nice day"

Just as described, I received this "IRS lawsuit" message today too: twice as a voicemail, but also once as a robocall, when I actually picked up.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Caller said she was the IRS and I was involved in a law suit.  She wanted a call back so that i avoided prosecution....yeah right.  She didn't speak English correctly and couldnt understand her. Scam call for sure.

They just wanted to confirm that phone number they called belongs to you and may have asked confirmed your address as well. They are checking to confirm your name and phone number etc is real and correct. They might have more personal information about you which they may use now or in near future to fraud you of you credit card or some other account. Watch out your accounts.

Just spoke to an "Amy Brown" (with Indian accent) who claimed her IRS badge number was 6598 and threatened me to pay $2,758.54 owed from2008-2012. I kept her on the line for almost an hour. She claims that the local police department will be at my house to arrest me in 45 minutes because I wouldn't pay. Better get dressed for jail! Hehe. She was very condescending and sarcastic to me and when I objected to her requests she basically said that I should hang up and face arrest - that I was wasting her time from "helping" other people who owe back taxes...SOME help...

Me too. Indian male, threatening me with jail, garnishment, liens against the house, 401k etc. I called the US attourney's office and spoke to a guy who said for sure it's a scam and he got the same call on Sunday. Do not give your credit card or ss#...

I received a message on my home voicemail stating they were from the IRS and there was a lawsuit against me from the IRS office and I needed to call right away as further action would be taken from the IRS - and I shouldn't ignore the call.
I called the number (703) 879-8659 back and a guy answered "IRS". He proceeded to tell me that there was a serious lawsuit against me because the IRS audited my taxes and determined that I intentionally defrauded the IRS on my taxes. His name was (supposedly) Mark Anderson and his badge ID is 277049, his employee number is 4530 and he even gave me a case # to reference. I was instructed to stay on the phone to get more details and if I hung up and didn't work with them I would be arrested and an officer would show up at my door within the hour after hanging up the phone. I was transferred to another person (Officer James Brown) who proceeded to "work" me to try to pay for the charges and supposed tax amount out of court. He convinced me to go to the Bank and get out the $2,800+ in cash and I would need to go to a government affiliate location to pay and get a receipt tomorrow. He insisted that he call me on my cell phone and stay with me the whole ride to the bank. When I got to the parking lot he instructed me to not talk with him on the cell phone in the bank and not let the bank know what I needed the money for. All along I kept saying I wanted some paperwork to prove that this was true...his response was that I would receive all of the paperwork once the money was paid/authorized by the gov't affiliate location.
I hung up on "James - Indian - Brown" at the bank and he kept calling  back. I finally answered and told him that I would prefer to go to my local IRS office in the morning and get it taken care of through them. He kept trying to convince me and before I got off of the phone with me he said he was going to have the sherriff's office come and arrest me.
Within 5 minutes I received a call (my husband answered) from someone (a female with Indian accent) saying she was from the Maricopa County Sherriff's office and was going to come and arrest me. My husband told her to go ahead - and she proceeded to ask for the address!!! How stupid! We hung up and called the number back - which was of course a non working number.
