I was was told I would be reported to the sherif if I did not respond.

I was told they were from the Federal Crimes and Investigation unit of the Internal Revenue Dept of Treasury. The message left said I needed to call them back regarding an affidavit they received under of name showing tax evasion. If we did not call back ASAP, we would "face the consequences"! (Ooooo!!!)

caller (english not his first language) said he was from the federal crimes and investigation unit of the IRS Dept of Treasury.  They received copy of an affidavit concerning tax evasion. I will face legal consequences if call is ignored.  or they will legally prosecute me and contact local sheriff's office.  then told me to have a good day!

Greg, we got the same phone call again today, they also called 3 times on the same day last week.

my parents just got this call and told me about it so googled the number and found this. Who falls for this? I wish I had it recorded!

Yes, a heavy foreign accent called from Sterling, VA and said similar things as the above posts.  My reply before I hung up: "I'm sure that if the IRS had some sort of criminal case against me, I would have received dozens of certified mailings by now!"

I just got a call from this guy(same situation as above), asking for my mother. I told him I got this call a couple weeks ago and told him to '[***] off'. He called me back and said, "This is the guy you just called a [***]!".
