She said she had my social security number and her firm was going to garnish my wages if I did not pay$1300 immediately before 5p 4/7/2015. I told her I will have my lawyer call her and she said I did not need a lawyer, and that I could use her.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

- MB replies to HelpJust happened to me today- said it was from 2009. Yet she had ALL my info- even my social! She referenced a bank and employer that I had not been with since 2006 so I knew it was a scam. I just filed a fraud alert on my credit reports since she had my social.
- .. replies to Help| 1 replyI just had the same call yesterday and it was from a 704 numer and they said if I did not pay by 4 I will be pursuing legal action. I was a little scared I almost paid until I realized that Its a payday loan not anything that I really owe and they are scam artist. I also had them call my legal representative and they did not want to. WOW!! These people are [***]!!
- CWG40 replies to ..Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them. - Diane krehDoes anyone have a 1800 number for this company. No one picks at the 7044612134
- Linda M| 1 replyThe recorded message indicates that they need my personal statement for a loss and instigation investigation for their client for a review they are doing.
- Caller: No Name Given
- Diane k replies to Linda MDid they leave a 800 number to call back?they called my in was looking for my husband. Automated message with a case number and to call back but couldn't understand the message because was talking so fast. Did you call them back?
- DDAI called the NC Atty Gen office last year about these phone calls. She said these payday loans are illegal in NC and have been for years. They can't take you to court.
- cookHave called my house and cell phone. Say I owe a debit to a pay day company but will not tell me who unless I set up payments when I said I read online that this was a scam female started yelling at me and said I shouldn't believe what I read online. That they would be taking out 2 lawsuits on me. However, this debit does not show on my credit report as a past due debt. She hung up on me and when I called back she said I could no longer talk to them that it was going to court and she would mark me as uncooperative and then hung up on me again.
The next day calls started again leaving a message at cell and home from a different number but when I call back they say its the same company.- Caller: RJFinancial
- Call type: Debt collector
