No message left, three calls in 1 minute

Received a call at 6:24pm  on 5/11/2009 and a second call at 6:57pm on 5/11/2009. They did not leave a message. When I tried to call back it just rang and rang - there was no answer and I could not leave a message.

Called 3 times within 1 minute.

do not answer or call back.  your cell phone company bills you!  saltsmari, ontario is where the call comes from.

I found out that it is like a triangle scam.  Do Not Call back, correct the number is from ontario canada.  After a thorough internet search, a group of individuals are calling U.S phone numbers and do not leave a message.  If you call back since most US cellphone carriers don't cover Canada your company will charge you.  When this happens your cellphone carrier must pay a toll to the international long distance carrier that governs where these people are calling us from.  This "carrier" is fraudulent.  And the money is being wired to this dummy company.  I work at a bank here in Pennsylvania working customer service.  And a customer called in from Canada wanting to make a payment on her credit card w/ Canadian funds.  Of course we don't accept that, so the Customer called her bank on the phone, and while holding for the customer to gather her info, I spoke with the Bank rep and asked her had she ever heard of a canadian area code 705 and she stated yes.  I told her what was happening and she was aware.  She stated that they will usually only call cellphones and it has been happenning alot in the ontario and quebec area to U.S cellphones.  She told me that there is a Do Not Call list for U.S. people to call that can also block Canadian phone numbers.  Similar to our Opt out rights.  I called the number from work to see if she was telling me legit information and she was right.  It was actually a live person that answered and gave me a website to validate the DNC list from canada.  Was skeptical for giving my phone number to a canadian organization that I didnt know regardless if it was legit or not.  The lady said this has been happening from this same number for years, more so over the last few months from people in U.S. She said as long as you don't call back they would stop calling in few days.  It is a dialer that calls and not actual individuals.  Hope this helps.

Actually this is the automated General Motors roadside assistance number calling you back with the expected arrival time on your service (like a flat tire)

Used On-Star services cause we ran out of gas on June 6, 2009. Received a call from this number from Onstar Roadside Assistance to let me know when someone would be available to bring gas. A wee bit peeved knowing that I have extra cell phone charges. Never use Onstar again, will just use my auto insurance roadside assistance if needed.

Got a call from this # while I was talking to a rep from roadside assistance.  Didn't know this was actually from GM roadside assistance(from Canada for US service???) but anyways, I didn't answer.  Relieved to know this is not a telemarketer but absolutely "no thanks" for the international charge on my cell!!!!

It is NOT legit. Even if is, don't call it back. I don't have Progressive, GM or Onstar but I did have my car towed and serviced by Pep Boys. I was called by Pep Boys (different and US based number) and received a few status updates etc. Then, this number shows up twice in a row with no message???

I'm going to put on my tinfoil hat here and say that they are a scam and have some tie-in to the roadside assistance program application that companies like onstar and progressive use. They then use this to their advantage and do what Jasmes is suggesting.

Of course it is valid argument that they could be a call center that handles all of these companies. However, I have called and have been called by many call centers around the world and I have NEVER seen an international area code. Beware.

This # is legit (well for me). At first didn't recognize #. After pulling this page, I realized I did need GM Roadside on the date and time of the call.  I was billed for calling the # back to cancel my original assistance request.

I just received my second phone call from this number and the first time they didn't leave a message. After looking the number up I found this site and on the second call, I decided to pick up out of curiosity. It was to confirm that my car was towed by roadside assistance that I used yesterday and to ask if I wanted to take a survey. IT IS NOT A SCAM as others are saying

They keep calling -- never leaving a message.  We're on the do not call registry.

It's Onstar.  When you call them, they call you back to verify a callback number.  No scam.  Just Onstar.
