Looking for Dawn, caller is a collection agency. Told him wrong number and he said my number would be removed from the systen in 24 hours

Got a call from this number. It is a debt collection agency.

got a call from them claiming I ordered Dr Seuss books 10 years ago??? Seriously what kind of scam is this? and who would wait 10 years!

Changed our phone number four months ago and these people call us four times a day. Maybe after today they finally remove us from their call list.  Not holding my breath but have my fingers crossed

We get this call all the time, we answer and it says please hold over and over again and then finally it just clicks and hangs up.  These people need to get a life

Got a call from this number, after answering it I had to wait before someone came on the line and then asked for someone when I told them that they had the wrong number they said my number would be removed, but the next day the same number called again. I told them again that they had the wrong number and they would remove my number. I told them that I was told that already and that if they didn't remove my number that I would sue them for harassment. Let's see if that will work.

Got a call from 7062505038. They were asking for an unpaid gas bill. Cheaters! They want to get your financial information, don’t trust them!

Got a call from this company? Claiming to be a debt collector. Stating that I owed 110.00 to commonwealth Edison, this bill is from 2004, when I told the caller Derrick Smith, that they would need to send me proof, he stated that the company would not have the information because the bill was so old. I also told him that if I owed them and (I don't) the debt is to old to collect. He replayed you are disputing the charges, yes I am, and they would need to send me proof. I don't owe commonwealth edison, I pay my bill every month. This is a scam

Got a call from this number yesturday and they said they were looking for me.  Said that i owed 118.50 from 2004 for a dvd i purchased.  I told them i don't order dvd's and they said they would settle for a 1 time fee of 35.55.  I asked them to send me proof of what dvd it was and what account it was purchased from and they told me they don't have that information, that they were only the collectors for another company.  This is definately a scam and i reported them to the better business bureau.  Don't anybody send money to this company!!!!!!

Exactly - refusal to mail proof that you owe a debt and that the caller has the legal right to collect said debt means that you owe them NOTHING, per the FDCPA.  Never take a caller's word that you owe - the burden of proof is on the caller to mail documentation proving you owe them money.  Report the caller to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.

I received a cell phone call from this number this morning - Nov 23rd. I told him he had the incorrect number and he apologized. Nothing more. I live in MA and this call came in from GA. It smelled weird.

Received a call asking for the main person on the family plan that we share. Smelled like a scam since all they said is that is was a "business matter" and to please pass a message onto the person. I also said that if this is for a debt that is more than seven years old, I will be reporting this number to the FDCPA authorities and BBB and FTC for violations. Refused to even give the name of their compan after that threat. Debts more than seven years old are uncollectble and cannot be reported to credit bureaus, if they do fight them!

They told me the same thing and same fee!!!

Told me I owed Columbia DVD never ordered from them so don't know! New number only a month old!!!

Call today and wanted me to verifiy my address and told him i would not unless i understood why he was calling he said i have the adress infront me so all i had to do is verifiy i told him no tell me what this was about and he said he would call back tomorrow when i would be more willing and hung up.

I just had the same exact call.  I am not verifying my address with anyone unless I know who they are and why they are calling.  You don't want to tell me why you are calling unless I verify my address?  Ok then, we have nothing further to talk about.

recieved call did not answer they hung up no voicemail...

Columbia DVD is out of business as far as I know. Can we say scam?
