- RainThis person called from 7085894037 stating my mom wrote a check 4 years ago and it was bad. She knew my name and called me on my cell phone. Which I've only had this number for over a year and it comes up under my sisters name. So if they were looking through public records for contact then my name isn't what she would've said. So I alerted her that I knew she was a scam and I wouldn't give a message to my mom regarding them trying to scam her. If they wanted me to give her a message then they could send out correspondence through mail regarding her debt. She argued with me for 4 minutes over it, she was very unprofessional. She advised she looked her own number up7085894037 and she stated nothing came up. (When you look up a number that hasn't been reported for scam then all it pulls up is white pages, however her number pulled up "number reported" information. Red flag. Also the fact that she blabbed my moms dirty details to me, red flag. The fact that she stumbled around on her words before I started giving her the riot act for being scam, red flag. I'm a supervisor at a call center so I hear about this national asset recovery company constantly because they dupe people into giving their credit card information. Then I'm the one they call after they find out they're scam.

- SilviaThis number called me also saying I had won money but all I had to do was send them money. I agree they are fraud.

- John| 1 replyI fell under that trap. They said I owed them money. I sent them money because they said they were going to garnish my wages. I asked for a receipt and they said they couldn't send one. So I've been waiting for a few months on a receipt. I've even asked to talk to a supervisor and they always hang up on me.

- CurtisThat sucks. I decided to look up this number since they just called and left me a voicemail to see what it was about. I'm glad I looked it up now. Since these are recent then it must be real.
- Slim replies to JohnA phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:
* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money. ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.
IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - booper| 1 reply708-589-4037 Called meseveral times. I spoke to a Ms. Parker from National Asset Recovery. She said I owed money from a payday loan several years back. This payday loan was deposited into my account without my concent and when I tried to contact them to have them take the money back their number had changed. In the several years the payday loan has been sold to other companies under the same subsidiary company. So I did find a link from the original payday loan company to the now alleged company that is saying I owe the $$ to. Wanting to be upstanding and get this taken care of I gave my card information to Ms. Parker. Three days went by and the money had not been taken from my account. I called her number and she was out of the office and I got transfered to someone else in the office. They processed my payment and did send me a paid in full letter. This was four business days ago. Today Ms. Parker called me to say that she was still waiting for my payment. I told her the payment went through four days ago and I have my paid in full letter. She then called me back two hours later saying that they did not get the $$. I told her it was taken and I had my paid in full letter. She said well I don't know who you talked to but they were not from her office and I needed to contact my bank to stop the payment. Being alarmed and confused I dropped what I was doing and went to the bank. Ms. Parker also gave me her email address so that I could send her a copy of the email and the paid in full letter. I forwarded her the email with the copy of the paid in full letter. While driving to the bank Ms. Parker called me again asking if I wanted to use the same card information and was I ready to process my payment. I told her that I was on my way to the bank and that if I could get them to stop the payment it would not be today that it would take a few days at least. My bank was very helpful and put an investigation towards the funds that were taken. And of course it is going to take at least one to two weeks. What is really bothering me now is what would make a legitimate company think I could just stop a payment and have the money back to pay within an hour?? And if I now have a paid in full letter stating the name of the creditor why would you still be coming after me?? Furthermore the email address she gave me was just a yahoo email, a legitimate colletion would have a valid business email and I got a message back that the email could not go through as it was not a valid email address. I am keeping all the documentation that I have about this and am preparing myself for multiple phone calls tomorrow. I think I may have to get some legal advice for this. People I thought I was smart about things but now a days you just do not know who you can trust.

- booper replies to booperSince my earlier message posting this company National Asset Recovery 708-589-4037 changed its number to 708-589-4024 and now two other numbers are calling 708-589-4013 and 708-589-4022 are all calling me harassing me. I have emailed them a cease and desist letter and they have not complied so I am now going to send them the cease and desist letter certified with a signature required. If they still fail to comply I have been advised by legal council they would pursue a case for me against them. These unlawful collection tactics have got to stop!!

- kayI just got a call from this number. The caller was looking for someone else, but also had my name and said I was listed as a reference. I didn't know who the person was that had listed me as the reference so the caller said she would remove my name from the reference list. Call wasn't for me so no clue, I'm assuming it was a debt collector.
