    person calling sez her name is Amber Whitley (or something like that, last name was garbled). her message stated she is from National Fraud Investigators and claims there is a felony case pending against me. She leaves her phone number and a case #. .  Sounds like the typical scare tactics of a debt colelction company. I plan on returning their call and asking for proof of debt. That always kills them..every time a debt collection company calls you always ask for a proof of debt to be sent to you. Don't be put off if they say it is not required or some other BS. It is the law and they are required to send it to you. You can also threaten to report them to the FTC if they get nasty.

    I recently received a call from this # claiming they were given my name as a way to contact my daughter regarding a case of fraud that's pending against her.  Telling me to pass this information on to her.                      REALLY imagine that.

    Amber Whitley called me as well. Also stating the same thing. I asked her for proof and she tells me she can send me an email but can't send out a letter to me and when I demanded something in writing she told me how they don't send out anything in writing. Really what kind of business is this? So I am suppose to send payment to someone who sends me an email? Really? An email? And if there weren't emails then what would they do? I told her well then I guess if you don't want to send me a letter I will just wait for someone to take me to court. She then said she will make notations that I don't want to cooperate and got real nastly with me and hung up on me... oh well!

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

    Tired of this BS
    This company called my ex-husband and went into their song and dance about fraud investigation, etc., etc., and he told them they had the wrong number.  We've been through this so many times in the past two years that I finally told him just to get as much information from them as he could, then tell them they had the wrong number, then give the information to me and I would handle it.  I called the number back and AMBER WHITLEY answered.  I then, in my most unladylike angry Cajun manner, told her what she was and what she could do with herself and to stop calling.  She hung up on me.  Not that this will deter anyone in the future.  I did report it to the FTC like I do every time.

    Just rec'd call from Amber Whitley - stating she was from Allied Investigations - reading from a script - but PLEASE NOTE - they are now using phone number   920-669-0809 - the message on the recorder said for me to call back at 920-569-0809    She then called my number again and gave a call back number as 920-569-0809 (but was still calling from 920-669-0809)    If I did not call them back a felony warrent would be issued against me - this has SCAMMER written all over it.   DO NOT CONTACT THESE PEOPLE - SAME OLD SCAMMERS - JUST USING A NEW NUMBER.

    I received a call from Amber Whitney stating that she was from Allied Investigations and there was a warrant for my arrest? The phone number she used was 1-715-568-1033, which when my wife looked into this company in Texas, with this area code, this site came up on scams?

    Man called from 202-808-3318, said he was with Allied Investigations from Washington D.C. (convenient) and transferred me to another Lady by the name of Melissa Young. She tried to tell me that I had 4 counts against me for check fraud, stolen funds, bank fraud, and debt by deception for unpaid check loans. She accused me of just dipping out on paying or closing my bank account so I wouldn't have to pay and said she had a notarized statement from my bank confirming funds were deposited. She said that if a resolution could not be reached should would have to "sign-off" so that a judge could issue warrants for my arrest. I proceeded to tell her that this is not the first call like this I have received and that it's funny that when i google their # every results comes back as spam. I told her that I have recorded from my bank, that the check information they are giving me does not even exist, and that I accept no debt as I have no outstanding check loans. I further told her that I am well aware that bottom feeders such as herself buy up old debts (whether the debt was paid or not) and spend their days trying to screw people out of their hard-earned money. The woman said she did not have to listen to what I was telling her and d/c the call. SCAMMERS!!
