Dokken (?) with the Community Extra.  Asked how I was, and when I said "good" he hung up on me.  I guess he was not happy I was doing well!?

Well, I am happy you are "good," but the call was likely a phishing call, looking for "live" phone numbers for future scam attempts. Beware: you might start getting calls from a lot of unknown numbers. Save yourself grief, and keep doing well by ignoring those calls. If it's anyone important they will leave a message (assuming you have voice mail) and you can then decide if the message is valid and warrants a return call.

Even those messages can be phishing attempts, though. There are all kinds of phone scams being spread around, so the more you know the "gooder" you'll be. Google PHONE SCAMS and read up on how bad it's gotten.

Here's an update: whoever this is has now called five times 24 hours, never leaving a message.  I've now blocked the number.

PS:  I am self-employed.  I have to answer my phone in case it is a new client looking for me.

Weeks later, they continue to call twice a day.  Having found no information on the web, I finally got curious and called the number back.  They answered: "Thank you for calling the The Pisa Group your leader in discounted newspaper subscriptions."  Mystery solved; they are telemarketers. Woman's voice, said she was with some charitable organization that distributes free local business coupons.
There was a beeping in the back round like the call was being recorded.
I hung up.
Next time I will not so generous......

I'm retired now, but was self-employed, so I understand your need to answer calls. That's what got me into hot water years ago: too many scammers getting through and it was before I knew about call blocking. They might get through once, but not twice. Good luck.

Guess it would be a good idea to report them to the BBB - they have an A+ rating ... sheesh

Answered the phone unfortunately. Woman's said she was with an organization that distributes free local business coupons and was not selling anything. Wanted to verify our address and name so that she can mail us free coupons. Then she asked if we were subscribers to the local newspaper. We declined all offers.

I just want to say I'm glad I've been busy and not able to answer. This number has called 4 times in 12 hours. I will block them. I thought maybe they were a doctors office I'm being referred to and was getting irritated I couldn't answer.

This number calls several times a day, in the morning and in the afternoon. I wish it would stop. I have never answered it before, but when numbers like this call I sometimes call after hours to see what the company's name is on their outgoing message. A previous reply mentioned live callers, so I will not be doing that anymore. Thank you!
