Please don't call

received a call from 714-406-5216 this morning, but no answer when I picked up.

This number called me twice.  Left no message and I get a busy when I tried several times to return the call

Got a call at 9:45 PST and answered because it looked local in "Anaheim, CA" but there was no one on the line, and from the look of things here I'm guessing it's one of those telemarketer companies who buy up local numbers and use computer generated auto-dialers to trick people into answering - but sometimes the computer gets ahead of the operator and they don't catch the answered call in time, which is why no one is on on the line when we answer.  
Either that or we all have the same friend who can't seem to reach us!  ;-)   It's now blocked.  

You're mostly right. They spoof numbers using voice over ip services, If you've blocked this one you'll also want to block 323-238-3792

Got this number and cid said Yorba Linda (which is near Anaheim).  Thanks Dreizehn I also blocked the number you suggested.

No message. WTF! Even if I wanted whatever the F they are selling, I would never encourage this method of sales.

Received a hang-up call from this number.

Just received a call from this number.  Showed up as an Anaheim location.  I didn't answer because I usually don't for unrecognizable numbers.  They left a 3 second, BLANK message.  Another number that I will block.

Ditto to the above. It's getting so bad that you have to block all numbers and create an exception list of people that you actually talk to.

They called my cellphone 18 November 2014 at 1:41 PM PST. I did not answer, and they did not leave a message.

In my opinion, they are spoofing phone numbers in the local area code, hoping that you will answer, thinking that it is a local friend or business. We have seen a spate of recent calls where the scammers are spoofing not only the local area code, but sometimes using the same prefix (the next three digits match too).

I doubt that reporting these calls to DoNotCall.gov will do much good, because I do not believe the caller ID is real. It says Anaheim, but could be coming over the Internet from anywhere in the world.

Got 3 calls and 3 blank Vms.

They called at 8:18 pm on 11/18/2014.  This was after a slew of calls from random phone numbers over the last couple of days, none of them ever leaving a message.  This time I answered.  Some guy asked if I was <MyName>, and I refused to acknowledge.  I asked, "Who is this?" and they answered, "This is Green Energy, is this <MyName>?"  I asked, "How did you get my number, and they hung up.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Spoofing? It's not spoofing its an auto dialer. Two different things.

Received the call just now (11/20/14, 3:42PM), and no voice mail message left. Will block the other number mentioned above. Thanks for the tip!

I keep getting calls from random "local" numbers (aka area code 714). All telemarketers/scam companies. This is only one of them. When I answer, and ask, "can you please take me off your list?", they hang up. If I don't pick up, they hang up or leave a short 1-second blank voicemail. My "block" list is getting long. I'm getting tired of reporting to DNC, especially if, as someone mentioned above, it's unlikely to actually help. If anyone has another solution, please let me know. Thanks.

My husband and I both received calls simultaneously today from this number.  Very strange.  Blocked it.
