Johnny Cruz w/a thick hindu accent from law office of Jennifer Young, RUDE GUY, said I received an online loan for $5K and did not pay them back, so they’re suing me & since I did not respond to the State Police’s calls, they were going to arrest me at my workplace! Wait a Minute, WHAT!?! So I told him, I never received this money so go ahead and send them because I don’t know what the heck he was talking about.  So he said, “Alright then, tomorrow the state police will be on their way to arrest you. Bye!” and hung up. Called him back and tried to get more information and he changed the amount from $5k to $398. He said to put $398 on a prepaid card from WALMART and DON’T activate it, call him back and he’ll tell me what to do next.  My boss told him that he was not allowed to call my workplace. We’re filing a complaint & reporting him to the BBB.  I hope this post helps.

I got the same thing, they tried to railroad me sayiny that I took a payday loan from some company and that I needed to pay or they were going to sue me, they called my cell and my job harrasing me. I talked to Alex Watson the Attorney and he pulled the same thing, saying the police were gonna come arrest me and my wages would be garnished so I  asked what are my options, he said handle it of I would be served at work tomorrow, I replied do what you have to then. They even had my social security number.

OMG, I got that same phone call this morning, and they told me the exact replica. I had no idea what is was for. I was told I would get arrested at work and they also had my ssn and everything else, saying I got a loan and would have to pay 5k if it goes to court but could settle it out for 398 dollars. I hung up on him and didn't give him a chance to tell me how to pay it. Saying the police would come to my job. I spoke with Alex Watson at the law office. Man, I can't believe this mess. I will be looking into getting me a lawyer now. They had my job number.

I had received one call from them this morning from my job number and my cell. I talked to them, afterwards, I looked the number up online and this mess is a scam. I called them back to warn them not to call my number anymore, and they kept hanging up before even speaking into the receiver. I called them again. He, Alex Watson, called me a "[***]".

These scammers have been calling one of my cell phones for weeks now. It's a phone I never answer, just alternate. At first, the man stated his name was Dan Lewis and calling from Jennifer Young Law firm. He was saying that I had a lawsuit against me. These people had my job number and cell phone, knew where I worked and even my ssn. What are we to do about this. Someone please, if you have any ideas besides the fact that I could call the BBB, what can be done about this. My info just floating out there somewhere. OMG. They made threats that the police would come to my job and it would cost me 5K, but they can settle it for 398 dollars. I was clueless to what this individual was saying. Then when I got home, I called back and was called a "[***]" by Alex Watson.....

I received a call from this very same number and they told me they were from Law Office of Jennifer Young to call Law Office of Alex Watson.  I called but no answer (Friday).  I received a call early this morning (Saturday) with the same message so I call the company again.  I spoke with a woman that I couldn't understand due to her accent.  She told me that I owe $500 to a payday company that they want their money.  I kept asking who the company was and did they have a phone number.  She told me no and proceeded to tell me that I have to pay it but didn't know where I suppose to pay this money to.  She told me that the case going to California Court they will have police arrest at work on Labor Day (it's a holiday).  Now at this point I'm very suspicious if I pay the $500 and put it on a prepaid credit card from Walmart call them back with the number.  She told me if I didn't pay it will be $5K and then I will have to go to California to settle it.  Since she couldn't tell me the company I told her to do what she have to do so if I get fired, they won't get their money and she start yelling at me and then hung up.

This is an illegal call... If a debt collector calls you and threatens you with the police and stating you wlll be arrested... They can be sued.. A debt collector cannot call you before 8a or after 9p.. A debt collector cannot state that a police officer will come and arrest you...That is not true... If you owe a debt.. the first action is to send you a notice with the amount owed, followed by a second letter informing you how to pay your debt and where to send the monies owed.. The final action is a negative action on your credit report.

If you disputed the debt in writing within 30 days of receiving the dunning notice (and not from the date of the letter or postmark) then go to court prepared to show the judge proof of your dispute and mention that the collector failed to respond with the proper validation as required in the FDCPA. Provide certified copies of all documents backing up your story. Usually, the judge will stop the hearing and order the collector not to return until complying with the validation requirements of the FDCPA.

Remember, collectors can pursue collection actions, including court action, while waiting on you to dispute a debt. Some collectors send dunning letters and, at the same time file, for a court judgment. This is why it's imperative that you dispute the debt immediately.
If you receive a call and someone is stating you will have a police officer come and arrest you they are violating collection laws.,, That is not true!!.. If you receive this call again, make sure you tell them that you are recording their call and will report this to the appropriate federal agency..

Can debt collectors demand payment or take legal action during the thirty (30) day period for disputing a debt?

YES! Section 809(b) permits collectors to demand payment or take legal action during the thirty-day period for disputing a debt when the consumer has not notified the collection agency in writing that the debt is disputed.

That's why it's so important to dispute invalid debts in writing the same day you're contacted!

Remember, if you applied for an online payday loan, they ask for your name, telephone number and social security#.. Your name and number was sold from a online agency.. Ignore the calls and tell them you will contact your local State Attorney's Office!!.. The people that are calling you reside in India, but they are using a California dial in!..... It is sickening!!

I received a call from an Indian guy stating his name was Felix Brown and that the police will be arriving at my home because I owe a debt.. He could not identify the company, but he told me that I owed $6,000 and could settle with the amount of $398.. I will need to goto Walmart and purchase a card w/that amount.. I previously applied for a payday loan and never received the funds.. It is amazing that this guy was able to identify my social security number.. I had to provide my social security number when I applied for the payday POP UP LOANS that was never APPROVED... I made the Indian caller aware that I will be contacting the Federal Consumer Protection Agency and make them aware of this company and their illegal collection practices...He told me to F...off and he HUNG UP!!
