    My Son in a Lawsuit...
At least these scammers should choose an adult...gee...  These Indians have a horrible accent and it sounds near robotic as well.  A robotic indian?

Anyhoos, this robotic indian gave us the address to the local police department and said a subpoena would be there awaiting us and we could be liable for up to $8000.  Called...um no.

Oh, we could also call the robotic indian back at this number and negotiate a settlement.

I received a call today and have received call in the past.  I was able to understand the phone number but not the name of the law firm.  The accent is very heavy and hard to understand.  I contacted my State Attorney General and was told they could not do anything.  I hope by posting this message more people will know these people are running a SCAM.  Their claims are false - DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY!

Received 2 calls so far today from this number.  Guy states his name is "Ryan Smith"  with Hopkins (or Hawkins) Law Firm.  The context of his message is that I have been named in a lawsuit and criminal charges will be brought against me, subpoenas have been delivered to my employer, and physical verification will be done at my residence.  He states the papers can be reviewed at the local police "office" (however, he names the wrong police department from a city I don't live in).  He tells me to take down a different phone number so that his "senior attorney" can speak with me about this.  Wants to know if I am ready to write it down...told him  "Nope!" and hung up.  He calls back almost 5 minutes later and leaves the same voice mail message.  This is a scam, and actually is illegal to do (see the ICE website).  Besides, this isn't the way this process works...duh!!  Don't fall for this in anyway.

Ok, I get this voicemail today from Henry Cooper from the Williams Hawkins Law Firm. Then it gets fuzzy from there, because he has a thick Indian accent, but calling from California???? There is something about criminal record and for me to go to my local police station and he gave the address so I knew where to go. But all he was doing is calling to verify my address and he gave me that too. Awesome! I was suppose to call him back. Of course I didn't and laughed it off because he is stupid to think I would fall for that scam.

    But wait there is more...

He called me on my house phone and I answered it. He asked me if I got his message. I questioned everything he said and asked. He told me to grab a paper and pen to write down his Senior Attorney's phone number and I was suppose to call him to find out more information. If I didn't then the police would pay me a visit next week and take me to jail. because there is a subpoena for me. He could not tell me any other information because he is only a paralegal so I have to call the Senior Attorney to settle this. I kept questioning him to where I frustrated him and he hung up on me.

So, I guess I am going to jail because I didn't call back. LOL!

How does one go about reporting scams like these?

    * File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage     http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

These jerks are spoofing existing law firms.   I don't know what they hope to gain.  I'ts hard to believe that this scam works with anybody.  But apparently it does, because they are still doing it.

Why are they talking prosecution and then mixing in private law firms.  Private law firms don't handle prosecutions.  Just a lot of legal mumbo-jumbo intended to confuse and frighten people.

    Frustrated
I got several calls from this number, not one day, but two days in a row. I looked it up on my computer on the first day. They're using some communication establishment to issue out these God forsaken lies. They tend to know their victims home addresses, they don't now anything about the Police Department in this city; because it doesn't even begin with numbers they're using. They begin in a normal voice, but then they witch to some Hindu/ Indian voice. They threaten you with things that are not true, and for the record, I haven't been anywhere near Los Angeles County California. Or California period in the last 10 years. And about the criminal history I have in California, it was taken care of when I was there. So I know its a scam.

EXACT SAME HERE! I am so happy I googled the number while I was on the phone with this jerk and saw these reports.  He hung up on me when I interrupted asking who is filing a law suit against me.  Apparently lying to me isn't rude, just me interrupting him!

Same guy called and left messages on my sons cell phone. I returned the call asking what they needed, informing them that they needed to talk to me since my son was a minor and they told me there was a mistake and hung up.
