Likely scenario:
Santa Monica resident visiting Disneyland has got an app on their smart phone. They enter the payphone number, and the number they want to call, and press enter, The app connects the payphone to the desired number, they both ring. The app reports the caller ID of the payphone, facilitating anonymous harassment.

i havent even had my NEW cell phone number 1 DAY and already i have gotten this call and 7 others ( two invalid 11 digits numbers and at least spoofed disconnected number). i am not going to setup my voice mail for a week and see what that does. .

I got a call from this number today and I havent had my phone for more then a few days. The weird thing is that the call came from California, and I live in Red Deer Alberta Canada. I dont know anyone from California and never been.

Caller ID said Pay Phone so no clue who it was but most likely someone trying to hide their location or identity.

the calling is relentless it just wont stop its scaring the crap out of me and my friend whoever this is needs to be caught!!! i got my phone just a little while ago but now i want to throw it at a wall !!!!!! OMG this creeps me the heck out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harassment call from this number.  Please investigate.  Talked about Windows having downloaded a lot of "stuff" onto our computer.

THIS IS A SCAM to hack your computer.  They try to tell you that your computer is infected with a virus and that's why they are calling you.  DO NOT GIVE THEM any info!!!!  Ask them for their name and phone number so you can call your local police to validate this call, they will hang up and probably leave you alone after that.

Every time I tell them to stop calling, they immediately call back. Please stop!!! I can't take this anymore. It's not just this number, there are several others. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!

My mother's method:  1. Call number if you want.  2. When talking to a real person blow whistle into your phone.  (Take your ear away from the speaker.)  They don't general call back.

Just got a call from that number.  They said they were calling from Windows Tech Support because my computer was conducting illegal activities.  I live in Ottawa Ontario.  On the call, there was a lot of loud background noise in a foreign language.

I will try your mom's method if they call back.  Your mom is a wise women!

Got a call - the indian sounding guy said he was calling from Windows because my computer had downloaded illegal files.

Received call from Microsoft, detecting viruses on my computer.

She told me she is calling from Brooklyn, NY.

I took the East-Indian lady on a ride before screaming at her.  Hehehe

No message -- just one number in a series of 4 calls about the same time every day. Finally gets one message at the end of the call series saying he is Alex Ferguson or Sam Bishop with some information he cannot leave on my voicemail. Says he will call my work and my home numbers since I am trying to avoid them.... I wish someone would catch these creeps! All Indian or Middle Eastern accents ....

Just got a call from this number. Asked how our computer was working. Said it worked fine and hung up. We're from prince Edward island, Canada .
