got a suspicious call from this number supposedly from a charity for police officers, asking for a donation.  Didn't give info, but gave home address so they could send more info.  Next day, was victim of credit card fraud.  Trying to call this number back results in wrong number message.  Beware.

if they call back, don't give  any info!

got the same call twice and ask for the guys info and his name is brian and supposedly from a charity for the police officers. would not give me his phone # i gave him an ear full and i am starting to think that it is some kind of recording that reacts to you answers because it would get quite and say i having a hard time hearing you and go on with its speech with out missing a beat. scam scam scam

I too got this call, but I always let my answering machine pick up unknown numbers at the house phone.

Remember, almost no Police or Firefighter's call to ask for donations. Never give your name or ANY info to any charity over the phone, EVER.

called asking for my husband by name & I told him he wasn't home then he told me he was the police not in trouble etc... but was a charity etc.... very fishy so just hung up on him!

The caller said he is police officer and asked the person name...when he was
told that the person name...not available,he hang up.

He Called asking for my boss, I told him he wasn't here but I could take a message and then he said He wasn't allowed to leave a message. Then he said he'd call back later, I responded letting him know my boss doesn't even work at this office and I could have him call him back. He said thanks you he'll call his other number. The weird part for me was that he didn't say he was with a charity, he said he had a police order for my boss and said it was urgent. And he said it right as I answered the phone. Without giving me time to say my scripted hello. Anyway, I checked the number here first. Then I checked it through the LAPD Online data base and that isn't one of their numbers. Checked the OCSD (Orange County Sheriff's Department Online Data Base and there are no records of the number there either. It is definitely a scam and I've notified the Federal Fraud Prevention Program through one of my friends in the FBI. The number should be investigated shortly and if you receive a call from them write down the date time of day and your city and state. Post the time of day and Date you received the call on this message board. DO NOT POST YOUR CITY OR STATE. DO NOT POST YOUR PHONE NUMBER. My friend will be checking back with this site regularly along with myself so they can catch this organization. One with a call volume like this is not a single person. It's obviously a group of people now hitting a federal alert level. Thanks for all your help and support. And Kudo's to those of you outspoken enough to start a thread on this kind of awful behavior.

Caller ID listed phone number above.  Just 'UNKNOWN' on caller ID display.  Called several times so far.  No messages left.  Won't answer after reading above.  Thanks for alert to this scam.

wife recieved call asking for donations for police widows and orphans,,,she stated she already donates and has a police officer for a relative.  caller immediately hung up.

Called at 2:59 today, did not leave a message.  Caller ID indicated only "Orange, CA"

Fraternal Order of Police. They do charity work and help families of police officers.

Got a call from this number this morning. Let machine p/up but he must have thought I answered because he asked for me by first name.  He hung up when he realized it was the answering machine

I JUST answered  this number the same time the machine picked up and I said hello and he said hello, but don't think he heard me, if they call back it will go to machine!!!

I received a call July 8 at 3:59 P.M. The caller ID did come up as LA FOP DRIVE. Thankfully I did not pick up the phone based on what I am reading.

Just noticed this call on my caller ID from (714) 551-5500. I am always suspicious of unknown numbers so I plugged it in to search and was brought here.

Call was made on 8th July at 4:26pm.

yes there really is a Fraternal Order of Police,  but there are also scams out there claiming to be collecting on behalf of Police and Fire Depts.

If you want to donate to your Local FOP - call your local PD they can give you the LEGITIMATE contact information so they can receive your donation and you do not get scammed.

PROS keep 85-90% of all money donated.  

If you wish to donate - do so directly with the Charity by calling them yourself.  IF the charity does use 3rd parties to collect for them - tell them to stop.
