They called and told me I was going to be arrested lol

Called here and left a message.  California number.  Says they are coming to take me away! ha ha ho ho he heeee jeez what a scam.  It'll be interesting to see what this scam is.  sheesh  This can't be anything but a prank or a scam.

So I decided to call back this number to face whoever it was that was calling, and whatever I had coming to me, to get some peace of mind.  The first time they picked up, I got this girl who said I was calling the JOHN HILL LAW OFFICE.  I got to asking legitimate questions and she hung up.

A few minutes later, I called back and this time I got a guy.  Surprisingly, I was able to get answers from him.  He said his name was a D. Stenson, and he even provided me with the address and website link to the firm he said he worked for:  JOHN HILL LAW OFFICE.  In the end, he said that I was contacted in relation to some case against me by the "credit bureau".  To finish things off, I said that I didn't know the person that he was looking for and he told me to disregard the call.

Now what was really interesting is that the information that he gave me about the firm, and even his personal name are in fact all real, but being misused.  If you go to this link, www.hill-law-offices.com, you'll be taken to the website of a REAL firm, with the same mailing address that I was given, and even a D. Stenson that works there.  However, I called this office through there real number (a 510 area code), and they were already aware of their information being used and assured me that it was not them who contacted me, and that I didn't have anything to worry about.  Further, this JOHN HILL LAW OFFICE doesn't do any work for any credit bureau, but rather workers' comp.!!!!

In closing, I'm glad that these scammers gave me fake contact info because through that I was able to get to the truth.

To summarize, there is a real and legitimate law firm in California by the name of JOHN HILL LAW OFFICE, but these calls that we have been getting are not from them.  They are from wrong-intentioned people claiming to be them!!!

I wanted to share what I had found to provide some peace of mind to you all.

I received a call today from, 714-676-4599, they left me a voice mail saying I will be arrested in the next hour. I called back to ask what it was for and the Lady who answers went over a long list of charges I was being charged with and told me I have been notified. I asked for more information and she said she would transfer me to my lawyer. When the man answered he said he worked for john hill lawfirm in Oakland California,  was every short and said he will reach out to the courts to see if they can file a "oocr" not sure what that is. He placed me on a hold and said he would request this for me because I said "I'm not running, if I owe money I will pay. I have no intention of anything else but clearing this up". He came back on the line and told me that I'm luck that they approved for me to pay now and to avoid being served. Once I told him I could pay him $500 of the 1500 that they say I owe( keep in mind I still have no idea what this is a about, I have asked multiple times, still no answer). He placed me on another hold and told me when he got back on the line that the collectors said they will take 500 now and i have 30 mins to pay the next 1000. The man then yelled at me and said I'm wasting his time, I asked if I could call him back and he said once this call ends I will lose all opportunity to resolve this matter. The hung up on me after he said that. At this point, I'm so lost, I want to clear up anything.

Same experience the difference is I'm a former federal law enforcement officer and knew that when they threatened me with arrest for who knows what I was supposed to have done I knew it was a scam. I just found out this is a scam and I have turned it over to my attorney, do not let them scare you.

Yeah just got a call too dealing with some major BS...and I have been doing some major stressing...could always foward it on April's fool

I received a voicemail stating I would be arrested, but no explanation of why.  After calling back, I "learned" from an "attorney" named James, that I would arrested within the next two hours and promptly hung up. A bit unsettling to hear at first, but I knew that it couldn't be true.  Still...do people really think we are all that dumb?

We, too, received a call saying that we were going to be arrested at our residence or our workplace.  We promptly turned that number and the gist of the message to our local sheriff's office for further investigation.  It freaked us out too, especially since they gave us a phone number to contact.  Most telemarketers don't have a number you can get back in touch with them.  This needs to be stopped.  Maybe our police contact can make that happen.

I too, just got a call from this number saying I was going to be arrested at work or my residence.  Scared me! I called the number back but they kept saying that the person I was trying to reach was on the phone.

I received the same call from that number, the person said his name is James Wong, he was mean and rude, he asked me to pay $667.48 right now and when I told him I didn't have it he said good luck in federal prison they will come pick you up at your job. Of course I fricked out and called my lawyer. They called to number and no one answered. I am glad I googled the number and found all your stories. Now I know is a scam. They really scared me I was crying and became extremely upset. Bad really bad people out there.

I just got this same message, and I couldn't think what I could possibly be arrested for and why, if I were going to be arrested, that they would warn me in advance.  Googled and saw this.  Even thought it seemed ludicrous, the idea of going to jail is a bit freaky.

I received the same disturbing voice mail as everyone else. I knew immediately it had to be some sort of scam and was laughing. Let my boyfriend listen to the message and he wanted me to call the contact number...I decided to Google it instead! DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE ANYTHING!!!!! PROTECT YOURSELF! I knew 100% I have no outstanding debt and have done nothing illegal and if someone were going to come arrest me, they wouldn't give me a heads up anyway!
