Suppose to be contact number for purchase from Craigslist.  No valid address when texted.

This was a response to a $100.00 refrigerator add I posted on craigs list, seems very suspicious to  me.
No one is going to pay to move that thing to Calf.

THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the overpayment scam http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt014.shtm where something is your sale item or your services and the overpayment is a fake cashier's check or fake electronic funds into your bank account and you have to Western Union the excess $amount back to the scammer or his accomplice (movers, shipping agent, 3rd-party in another state, etc.). If you give your bank account info, they can empty it. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. You may also face prosecution for passing a bad check or money laundering. Also received same email from scammer today same number. Always good to look up customer info. Easy to tell most scams by broken English. I've been scammed before, they always email or text in broken English and want to ship/ have picked up by shipper and will not contact you by phone. My post on Craigslist stated clearly no emails. Got the same message word for word in response to a craigslist ad.  sounded strange so i looked up the number-he said he'd send a draft by fedex-i posted cash only in my ad.

"James" is working OT trying to scam via Craigslist looking at the recent posts.  The email I received is the same & like the others mentioned,  cash only ($150).

I will simply put his addy on my blocked list.

I got the exact same message as above from James, but that was only after he emailed from an account that comes up as James Kennedy and asked if the item I was selling on Craigslist was still available.  Then he emailed back from a different account that also came up with the name James Kennedy and had a reply-to address that was another account!  Here are all the email addresses:

I also specified that I would only accept cash.  I have had it with these scammers!

This person also replied to an ad on craigslist but referred to himself as Dave Kennedy. Same email address: kelly797901@gmail.com. Dave stated he would have his secretary send us a certified draft to our home or office. Thank you all for your posts as this helped us determine not to deal with this individual.

this phone number was given as a contact from a would-be purchaser on craigslist. Here is the entirety of his (Dave Kennedy) email (matches verbatim one of the posts before me):

Here is another Craigslist scam attempt that I received for an ad I ran for an engine I was selling. The reply was X-rated so I will keep that to myself.

This Dave kennedy fella strikes again... I made the mistake of believing his first email as posted by everyone, but got a bad feeling in my stomach when he sent the following second email:

I have since received the confirmation from my secretary that the payment has been issued out and was mailed by the FedEx. It will be delivered to your address a day from now according to the courier,but to my greatest surprise the draft was issued out to the sum of $3075 instead of the actual cost of my purchase.She claimed that I requested for that amount to be  issued out to you  but am very sure I only made a request for just the cost of my purchase.This is a terrible mistake and i was just  informed about this so please once  the check is delivered please take it to your Bank and have it cashed.

You will then deduct the cost of my purchase $1000 with Tax $97.50 plus an extra $100 to offset the cost of your run around expenses and western union charges. The rest of the fund should be sent to my mover  via western union the same day you  receive the payment so that my mover  can make the trip over for the pick at once.**I will need your immediate response via email assuring me  that i can trust you to handle this with utmost care and  have the remaining fund returned appropriately as requested  and will hope that your intentions remains noble though out the duration of this transaction.
