unkown caller, no message, no id available

His name was Shawn.  It was 8:45 pm EST when I got the call and it pissed me off since it was so late for someone to be calling to find out they were going to sell me something I never asked about in the first place.  He asked me if I had dish and I said no, Direct.  He asked why I had that?  Then I asked him how he got my number and where he was located...... then nothing.  The punk hung up.

#1, I never answer calls when I don't recognize the number so I have no idea who was on the other end of this call.  I looked up the area code and I don't know anyone in that area, Tustin, Placentia and Anaheim, CA. Do not pick up the phone...............I hardly get any "rogue" calls anymore.

Anyway, Hate telemarketers,  this may be the only job the guy can get in this economy and he didn't break the rules, he can call until 9:00pm. If you are on the DNC (do not call) list report him,  unless of course you have ever had Dish TV.....if you have he didn't break the rules either. Banks, political parties, charities and anyone you have EVER dealt with in the past can call you...............stinks doesn't it!

The Do Not Call list is probably next to worthless.

Caller ID read "California Call".  Didn't answer the phone.

Collection agency looking for someone I never heard of.
Violated the FDCP act by giving me details about someone else's debt. These people are a joke.
I'm looking for a consumer lawer to file a lawsuit against them for the violation.
These people have the attuide that the law doesn't apply to them.
They will find out soon enough!!!

Hung up when answered

I got a call from this number a few minutes ago. I didn't recognize the number, but answered anyway. I said "hello" multiple times, but no one responded. I called back the number and got a recorded message saying "this number is no longer in service". Well, it was 5 minutes ago when they called me! [***].......

Don't have caller ID but used Call Return (*69) since I've been getting calls from someone who keeps hanging up immediately after I answer. I don't know if this is the same person or business who's been doing this, but since I Googled the number and found this web page, I'd say it's fairly likely. They just call and hang up. F*ing annoying as hell and I suspect it's just a robo-call to see if the number is working.

Called the number and got a message that it's a "non-working number". Now how can that be? They're using some sort of technique to conceal the real number they're calling from, which I suspect is illegal, but I don't know.

do not call

Asked for us by name, then claimed to be answering an ad we had placed selling "pigs' ears".  Needless to say, we hadn't placed an ad and have no "pigs' ears" for sale.

No body there.  Sending fake Caller ID?  Possible?

Got a call from Unknown Name 714-949-8643.  Said he was from Direct TV calling  in my area.  I told him this was the 4 or 5 call and I was going to turn him in for harssment .  He hung up!

I just got this call.  I too do not answer calls with no name attached.  I am on the Do Not Call list, so he had no right to call me.  I don't care if he's doing his job or not.  I do not want these kinds of calls and that's why I signed up with Do Not Call. I appreciate the posts so I know who this was.

On "do not call" list and don't know why I bothered signing up for it.  These people randomly call at different times of the day, several days in a row and then hang up which = harassment which = illegal.
 I'm surprised I could actually find who they are -  now I know where to direct my complaint.

I too got the call. was expecting a call so answered. Woman answered bright and cheery and I hung up. I hate these calls and I too signed the do not call list.  What gives????

Thank god for caller ID, we got this number several times. How do they get this number?
