Called my home phone, left no message. Phone display read BREA, CA. Maybe a simple wrong number, though I doubt it in light of the preceding post. If this number rings in again without a message or an apology, they are blocked.

714 990 1073       calls our home phone.   Waits for answer machine to answer and come on to leave message.
Then leaves no message and hangs up  ---after letting the recording record the wait time.
This is happening all the time and from other numbers as well,.    
There is no way to do call screening on those obnoxious phone calls.
Why is the phone company letting people or businesses have these numbers.  When you call the number back
the message says it is an unknown phone number and other such words.

Has called me twice on my cell and left no message when sent to voice mail. Called the number back and get a recorded disconnected telephone number message. Added to call blocking. Caller ID shows them to be a land-line located in Brea.

Have several calls on my Caller ID…. funny.  Tried calling this number and "we are sorry this number has been disconnected or no longer in service"  WHAT?!  They just called!

This number appears to be the SPOOF call from telemarketer to see if you answer (live or answering machine) then hangup.  There is NO intent to speak to you.  It is expected to hang up if/when you answer.
These hangup SPOOF first-calls are often using your local area-code to trick you to pickup.

Its purpose is to see if you are home --- then moments later, you may receive a string of up to 5-10  telemarketing calls from the usual suspects  to follow (for the rest of the day, perhaps up to 8 - 8:30pm local time, and then it stops)

If you answer (or if your answering machine answers),  you will be rewarded with more calls (from OTHER numbers).
...and you may notice that they arrive at somewhat regular intervals for the rest of the day.

I got my first follow-up call  (this time) 2-minutes after my answering-machine picked-up this SPOOF call  (from another  number that calls me daily for months now , and I already block) ---   202-769-0723 Tea Party LF   which has NOTHING to do with the Tea Party,  I suspect/believe it is coming from telemarketing vendor  Strategic Fundraising - www.strategicfundraising.com however I have no way to prove it.   Since usually the call pattern each day is very much alike.

1 - get <spoof> call that hangs up.   Sometimes the spoof hangup 1st call number is used again in the future.
     Sometimes I hangup on it (before it goes to answering-machine but not sure it helps) and sometimes if I
     do, it calls me back quickly (to fool me to pick it up and speak in the line - to tell telemarketer that someone is home).
     
2- get string of follow on calls (usually from the SAME scammers almost every day, every week, for months)

the calls often come in in "waves"...  often following an initial "hangup" first spoof call, then arriving in regular succession for the rest of the day..  this whole mess appears to occur between roughly 7:30am-8:30pm every day, often 7-days a week with random days off.   I suspect all or most of them are coming from a short list of telemarketer boiler rooms (some located in US and India).

I got this phone call.  5 seconds for someone to start speaking.  They were asking for the poor lady that was the victim of id theft a couple of years ago.  I could hear the female who called making snide remarks while I just listened a hoot away.  Finally she hung up.  I *69 and got the recording of a recording that the line was no longer inservice, but I hear the recording echo and I heard a click, which tells me that these lowlifes are using a real recording but have it hooked up to answer any incoming calls on this line.  I think this number works.  

Just had a call from this number on my Mom's home phone which she never answers unless she knows who it is. He asked if I was  her... by name...when I said no and asked what this was about he said " I'm jimmy and its about the bill"  I said excuse me? And it takes him awhile to respond but he said it was for work on the outside of house .... I said no we are doing that ... Then he said oh is it the inside.... I said look. She just got home from hospital and you need to remove our number from want ever scam you are trying to pull and he hung up. I called back and got a voice mail so I told them off and said if they ever call this number again I will call the police it's obvious you at trying to scam someone.

Woman called from this nuumber... she was totally rude.  She tried a different name in me three times.  The last time..she had my correct name.  Did i meantion..she was rude as bell, called me a lair.  Unbelievable!

i don't know why this numbers keep called and called too many times a day

if they know everybody hates it, they still keep calling...............................like those junk mails most people will throw away, what a waste of American corp..
