- shenelle| 14 repliesgot call from someone with heavy foreign accent. Call came from Buffalo, NY. Did not give his name, just said he was from Windows and that my computer was sending his computers warnings. I told him he was crazy and if he called my number again, I would report him and I hung up. Tried to call the number back and could not get any connection. Dead. Reported to my local phone company.
- Caller: ???
- jmGot the same call as others... says he is calling from windows.. number does not work after you call it back
- Caller: no name from buffalo ny says from windows.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- paige| 2 repliesHeavy foreign accet, he gave me the same story, that my computer was registered with windows and they are calling to warn me that my computer has been sending them messages that I have very dangerous virus, malware, etc and he will show me how to erase them. He told me my "computer registration number" and how I could verify this by following his commands on my computer. I wrote them down but did not key them into my computer, fearing I would be duped into giving him access to my computer.
I figured I would bring this info to Geed Squad and ask if it sounded legit or not before trying these steps.
I told him, "so what now, after my registration number?" He said, "is your computer on?" and I said yes. He said, "you are lying." at which point I hung up and he called me back and asked why I hung up. I asked several times his name and company name which he danced around before telling me he's Sam Archer (sure, with a barely understandable accent, at least pick an ethnic phony name to sound more plausible.)- Caller: supposedly "IT Health Check"
- LarrySame as others. Called back and got fast busy signal.
- Paul EngelMy name is Bob-boo, from ISIS, please give me your Social Security number, the registration so I can get onto your computer, your bank account information, the name of your children your birthday, and I'd be your best friend forever
- Caller: Steal all your money.com
- JohnSame guy, same spiel. I tried to listen to him for a minute, but could barely understand him. After hearing about my computer sending out signals, I said, "I don't believe you" and hung up. Then I promptly ran a malware scan and an anti-virus scan. (Better to be safe than sorry.) Nothing showed up.
- Storme Cloud| 1 replyCalled me at 1140am 11-5-14. Unknown name. Answered it ******** State Police. How may I direct your call? Silence.
- annoyedreceived the same phone call----three times in a row. Bogus.
- off the hookSame as everyone else. Caller ID says buffalo, NY. Answered and he said he was calling regarding my computer. I didn't have the time to see what his scam was so I told him he had the wrong number and he hung up.
- Call type: Prank
- FrankI got the same call from a man with a heavy accent trying to explain to me that my windows software was sending out indications that I was infected with hacker ware. I listen in disbelief and then told him that he was scamming me and
hung up. He called back asking me to give him a chance to prove himself to me. I told him he was fishing and hung
up again. The call came from 716-200-4864. When I tried to call back, I connected to a dead signal, after a while
I got a busy signal. He has not called back again yet.- Caller: Windows Support
- JoshThis guy called my wife 5 times today. Well he just called again, I picked up and let him have it at full blast. Told him I traced his line and reporting him to the FBI.
- Caller: Windows Support
- Gwen| 1 reply716-200-4864, today, Saturday, at 1:44pm, a live human being phoned me, he had a thick India accent, said he was an authorized Windows technician, and that my computer was sending out error messages, blah blah, blah, first he tried to have me hold down the Windows button while I typed something (which I did not do, but indicated that I would), and when I asked why I should be doing this, he just repeated the first part of his script all over again, then when I asked him to send me to a website where I could read and follow these "important" instructions, he told me to type something (which I did not type or write down) which ended in .exe, which I know is not an URL but an executable command, and as this point I said, No, I don’t think so, Bye, and hung up. (By the way, what is SMS? It is one of the options on this page for "call type" but I don't know what it is.)
- Phill| 3 repliesYup, same ol' same ol'. I've received enough of these type of calls that I do one of two things, I either 1. leave the phone and just wait for them to get through with their script and hang up when I don't respond, or 2. confront them on every point they try to make, and when there is no definable response, and they get tired of me calling them liars and full of bs, they eventually hang up because they know they will not get anywhere with me. I'm curious why registering with a "do not call list" causes me to get these damn calls. I'm so tempted to just get rid of my phone all together, especially if 90% of the phone calls I receive are unwanted solicitors of one type or another.
- MartySame Buffalo number. Couldn't get my wife to hang up on the dude. He told her there was a breach of our firewall. She wanted to figure out if he could help her check out our system, just in case. I, just in case, made her hang up on him. Persistent bugger, he was.
- Tamianth replies to Phill| 2 repliesIt doesn't matter if your on the DNC list or not, sooner or later all these illegal callers, criminals and scammers will call. Most of these are coming from India and they could care less about any laws we might have here.
Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

- mpease replies to shenelle| 6 repliesLOL I just got a call I told him it was funny as my computer & laptop have been OFF now for how many months. As I've been using my tablet & its Android. Told him to take his scam and shove it up his are, I wasn't stupid & wasn't born yesterday. Told him this was America WE speak English and he should go back to where he came from and some other choice words. He must be dumb as he didn't hang up even when I told him I had caller ID and this was the first time it showed up as they claimed they'd been trying to call me for a couple weeks. What a load of BS! I hope no one falls for this.
- KeithI receive calls from this number now approximately once a week. I only answered once and heard 'good bye'. I cannot call number back because it is unavailable. Do not know anything else about this company. But it is annoying, it takes me time to get to the phone if I am just getting in or not near a phone. I would like to block this number - but also this should be addressed and unfortunately I do not know where to do so.
- Steven| 3 repliesI only post this because it is funny
I started out the first 25 minutes of the conversation with a guy who walked me through event viewer and told me there were a lot errors on my computer. After taking a restore point(not the windows, the hyper-V restore point, I was working in a VM) I let him screen share on my computer. He transferred me to an advanced tech support who controlled my screen and once again showed me event viewer and how many services were off on my computer and the like. as we were nearing 45 minutes I had to pass it off to my friend who I said helped me with computers. After talking for 5 minutes my buddy hung up on him accidentally.
He called me back and told me how rude my buddy was and it wasn't nice to hang up on him. I told him I didn't do it and it was probably an accident. He tried to convince me that my buddy was a bad person. After insulting my buddy a few more times we got back to work on my computer.
I once again let him take control of my computer to show me how broken it was. He tried to tell me that csrss.exe was a bad service, I told him it is actually the process that lets windows components talk to each other. He ignored that. I told him we probably lost connection before because I shut down the virtual machine from Hyper-V that we were using. He ignored that. I told him that the windows license he was looking for was an MSDN license and he ignored that. I told him that after I was done I would restore the VM back to before we talked and he ignored that. I shut down the machine and he amazingly lost connection again. He asked me what the screen said and I said "The virtual machine has been turned off" He no longer ignored that and tried to convince me that I was my buddy
I assured him that I wasn't and told him that my buddy and me work together in IT and that he is the network guy while I am the developer. He was convinced that I was my buddy. I told him that I am a computer engineer(which I am) and that I know a lot more about computers then him. He said "You think so?" and then he hung up.
An hour and a half worth of entertainment. Good thing we was so stupid so I could continue my work.
