received a call from this number, message left stated that I needed to contact the IRS before the close of business and left the phone number for the IRS.  I knew that I had no business with the IRS but called anyway to find out I was right.  The agent advised me that this was a scam, that the IRS will not make calls, they will send out letters requesting a phone call.  So I guess the satisfaction in this scam is that I waited on hold for 30 minutes waiting to speak to an agent.

I received a call. Said it was IRS and urgent and to return call to 1-800-829-3923. I suspected it was a scam, but called back to find out who it was. The woman answered the phone very unprofessionally ("Hey, how are ya, this is____"). I asked what company she was with and she said she didn't know. I'm like how do you not know who you work for??? Then she said it was a mental health emergency intake center. I hung up.

First off the main headquarters for the REAL IRS is in Washing DC and every State has their own local IRS Office this # is a NY #, I am in Ohio. This company may be the "IRS" But it is not the real Internal Revenue Service so it is crucial you do NOT give them any information, not only that but the real IRS will not initiate contact over the phone, they will send a notice through the mail ALWAYS no exceptions.  If you don't believe any of us that this is a scam and want to make sure, then go to http://www.irs.gov/ and contact them on their DIRECT # and ask, don't even bother calling the 800 #  this phony company gives and waste your time, anybody can purchase an 800# and call it whatever they want.

    SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!

Got a phone call at 7:47pm on 8/16/2012 stating that I needed to call back by 8:00pm (caller ID said IRS and to call 1-800-829-7650 and give them a case number that they left in the message).  Suspecting a scam, I called the number back from my cell number and it sounded legit, so I decided to plug the number into google and found out this is a scam for sure.

I received a call from this same # at 8:33 pm tonight and then again at 8:35 pm. No message was left. I immediately went to google and found your site. I called the number back and amazingly, it said the number was disconnected. Obviously a scam.

I received the same phone call, knowing the IRS doesn't make phone calls I decided to just see what they say. I got through to a rep and I could hear about 30 others in the back ground. The man got mad b/c I questioned who he worked for and then says I am legit I gave you my ID number....and then he hung up...big scam

we got this call twice- first got the "due to circumstances beyond our control we cannot complete this call.  We will contact you later", then got the other message that said to call back by 8 p.m., with an ID number.  I called the 1800# they left (if you call back this number, you get a disconnect notice) back, and it asked for a social security number, not the number left on the voicemail.  We hung up at that point- that was all they asked for to identify the caller, and we knew at that point for sure there was nothing official about this.

I just got a call from this number on my cell phone and it even left a case number for me to give when I call back.  When I called back it said this number is not in service.  This is a scam

Got the same call as all the other posts.  They said I needed to call back before 8pm and left a case number.  What tipped me off is I just got a new cell phone number about 2 weeks ago so how did the IRS find out my new number.  I know big brother is watching but that was kinda crazy.  Anyhow I called the 1-800 number they gave and found the same recording giving me the real IRS website.  In a nutshell, the IRS will contact you via mail not by your cell phone.  Delete the number

Got a call from (716)206-3218 the woman asked to speak to my husband (called him by name). I said that he was at work and said that I was his wife and asked what they wanted. She refused to say what the nature of the call was & I offered her his cell number if she would tell me what company she was calling from since she did not identify herself. All she said was to have him call a 1-800 number & i again asked her where she was calling from & she hung up on me. I called the (716) number that was on my caller ID & it said the number is not a a working number.

I also just received a call from 716 206 3218 - I spoke with a Mr Dwinski. his employee number 0621076 - He said he was calling in reference to an IRS matter. He started to ask me information to verify who I was. When he asked for my social, i said i was not comfortable providing this over the phone. He gave a call back number of 800 829 7650 - no direct extension. He did say that he understood why I wouldnt validate my social security number and surprised many people validate that info over the phone.
