- Bees| 7 repliesI would like to know if anyone else received a call from this number. No one answered the call back, and it seemed that they hung up.
- they almost got me| 6 repliesI was checking out this consumers award centre, I had received a call the guy talked a good talk. I always know a scam, but not this time, I actually believed him
A man with a thick Indian accent whose name I didn't catch. Very poor quality phone connection. I could barely hear him. He called me back, but the connection was no better. He quoted all my information like my mailing address and phone number. He told me I won 1 of 5 prizes... from a 42" Plasma HD TV, to $1500.00 cash in CAD, and 3 variations of trips with everything included. He assured me that I would not have to spend any money at any point, and I would not have to sign anything. He transferred me to his senior manager who also had a think accent, who said his name was Shawn Marsh. He said I had filled out a coupon in a store back in the summer of 2007. Anyway, he told me that I had to go to Mississauga(1510 Drew Rd Unit #6 Mississauga ON, L4L 8S5). I asked him what was the name of the company he was representing, and he said the name of the company was "Consumer Award Center", based out of Buffalo, and they are expanding into Canada. One of the trips was 8 day 7 nights Alaskan cruise,3 days 2 nights Las Vegas. He seemed to get rather irritated when I couldn't accommodate him to book an appointment on the spot. I told him I don't have a car, and that I live about 2 hours from Mississauga so getting there would be a big deal and I had to ask my friend if he could do it first. He hung up saying he'd call me back tomorrow. He also mentioned I would have to bring ID. Anyway... my boyfriend, when I talked to him later, said it sounds like a scam and he wouldn't believe it. I guess he was right. Thanks to all for posting your stories on here. Without them I wouldn't have found out this was a scam. I'm embarrassed that I fell for it. The bad guys just keep getting more sophisticated all the time. - they almost got me- Dec.19 2008I just posted a few seconds ago, I was wondering, has anyone actually gone? Does anyone know what happens when you do go?
thanks - very annoyed nowI just received this exact same call a few minutes ago. I didn't really have any intention of going into their office but I kind of wanted to keep them on the phone to see how much information that they had about me...which eerily they had our household income, age group, marital status, address and phone number (obviously). I spoke with one gentlemen at first who had a very very thick accent and told me I had filled out a coupon at a store sometime last year and that I had included this information on the ballot (which doesn't sound right, I would never fill out this information at a store and have no memory of it at all). He wanted me to confirm the information (which at this point it seemed innocent enough and I did confirm the info) he then described five prizes: 42" Toshiba TV, $1500CAD, 7 days Alaskan Cruise including flight, 3 day stay at Cancun including flight, and 3 day stay at Las Vegas including flight. All I had to do was come to their office to draw one of these prizes and then he gave me the address of: 1510 Drew Road Unit #6 Mississauga L5S1W7.
After this he transferred me to his 'senior manager' who also had an accent but was easier to understand. I asked this person my questions about the name of the company he was calling from (to which he answered "Ontario Grand Center") and then I asked him when he got my information and how long he has had it, to which he replied that he didn't know exactly, they had nine thousand ballots from last year and that I must have filled out a coupon from Wal-Mart or K-Mart (K-Mart?? I haven't seen one of those in years....) and out of 9000 ballots mine was one of five chosen for these prizes. He assured me I would not have to spend anything and told me not to bring one dollar with me cause I wouldn't need it. At this point it started sounding very suspicious and I wanted to know more about the company so I started asking why their company wants this information and what was the purpose of collecting it, why do they need to confirm certain demographics etc to which he just said they are advertising their company name and I wouldn't be obligated to buy anything but they are giving away prizes to get their name out there and at some other point in the future may try selling stuff to us (I think he may have mentioned electronics, but I am not completely certain)
He wanted an appointment for either today (Tuesday), or Wednesday or Thursday evening for us to come in and draw this prize. I turned him down right away and asked for something next week at which point he became very hesitant and after a few moments said he would call me back on Saturday to make an appointment for next week. I then said that I don't actually like receiving these phone calls and would rather cancel the whole thing. He immediately hung up after this remark. I had a hunch it was some sort of scam and hopefully me keeping them on the phone for so long also inconvenienced them.- Caller: Ontario Grand Center
- no nameI got the same call - they atre also calling from 416-548-8496 WATCH OUT!!
- no name, TorontoI just received a similiar call for the 4 prizes from the Consumer Centre at 1510 Drew Rd, unit 6 in Mississauga. Manger's name was Jessica Williams 716-240-4179, ext. 143.
I wonder if anyone is investigating these people.- Caller: listed as unknown
- Complete ScamSame general description as above - thick Indian accent and all the rest. Given I never, ever, ever "fill out a ballot" for anything it's easy to know this is nonsense (a word of warning - those "fill out a ballot" things are for selling your name and info to jerks like these).
Anyway, after telling him his is full of it, he just kept plowing along reading his script and I put the phone down. I figure he was left there hanging another 3 or 4 minutes based on the time on the phone after I came back to hang it up.
Never ever buy anything at the door or over the phone that YOU haven't called them to in the first place. Everything that sounds too good to be true IS!- Caller: "unknown" on the phone

- Almost a victim?| 1 replyJust received a similar call from Ontario Grand Center. I hung up, but he called back(!), which made me think for a moment that the call was legitimate. Same pattern as described above, but the address this time was in Vaughan: 216 Chrislea Rd, 2nd floor, #202. The caller, who identified himself as Sanchez, said I had filled out a ballot at Walmart or Canadian Tire on Dec 17. He knew my address, and said their company was expanding into Canada and was giving away these gifts so that the recipients would promote the company by word of mouth. I had received the same call with the same pitch last year, so they've been operating for a while. I asked what the company did and he said they were in the vacation business, but that there was no seminar to sit through. There is, however, a free dinner and presumably a presentation that lasts 60-90 minutes. At this point I hung up again, so I still don't know what the catch is. Interestingly, the phone rang again, twice, shortly after I hung up, but noone answered.
- Caller: Ontario Grand Center
- They just keep callingI don't answer after the first time, but the Indian accent and poor telephone connection tells you it is a call centre from the other side of the world. All a scam.

- just received the call| 1 replysame information they want verification of your identity.when i asked the indian lady about the company adress she is like my general manager does not allow me to give out the company address and i told her that if i call bell canada right now and ask for their address they will give it to me without any hesitation .whats so creepy about these people is what other information do they have.
- Caller: none
- annoyedReceived a scam call from 716-240-4360 saying I need to "pick up a prize". As described above, heavy Indian accent, terrible line quality. I told him to F-off and hung up.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- hassledSame call as 'very annoyed now', same address 1510 drew; the parts that made me immediately suspicious is they kept using the word 'ballot', and they really wanted to waste time repeating things rather than tell me what they were calling me to tell me. I think this is a strategy to make you feel that you've spent so much time on this, you might as well see it through. However, they called from 905-368-5217 'Unknown name'.
When they tried to book an appointment, I told them that I didn't know when I could make it, and I wanted to check the street address on the internet to see what people were saying about it. Then they hung up.
I don't even recall the name of the company, it could have been 'Consumer Award Center' or something vague. - shamiyep just like 20 minuts ago i got a call like this same description like other ppl had and they said i won a prize have come pick at this add 1510 drew road missisauga and she was asking about how much money we make and age group and stuff and i said i used to work but right now i am not working so we r not making that much money and then she transfered my call to senior manager and he took the phone talked a little bit and hang up and thats why i was searching to find out who they were and every thing i see this stories.1905-258-9something
