- W.T.got a call from 221-709-6790. they left a message asking us to call this number 716-240-4231. hard to understand. very similar to 'not buying it' comments. did not call back

- WearyI got the same call. The person claimed to be Jessica Williams, said that I filled out a ballot in some location (although they couldn't tell me the location) and that I won one of 5 possible prizes, ranging from $1000 cash, to a trip to Mexico for my whole family. She said that 150 people were picked and I had to go to the same building (216 Chrislea road) for an "awards ceremony". Sounds fishy. She said the marketing company name is API. She had the same phone number as the ones above (716-240-4231). That tipped me off...I asked why she had a NY area code, when she said that the Cdn gov't guarantees the prize. Yeah, it is because you want to be out of legal jurisdiction??? I got the call on April 22nd, so it surprises me that they called he previous poster in Feb. Thanks for posting about this possible scam!! Hopefully we can stop others from wasting their time too. When I kept pressing them for their company name or website, I was told that there was no website, but that the company name was Consumer Award Centre. Sounds fishy still.

- WearyThe nerve! After checking online yesterday, I decided not to go to the "awards ceremony" that they tried to get me to agree to. When they called this morning to confirm, i informed the woman on the phone (who said I am JEssica Williams calling to confirm your appt) that I thought it was a scam and would not be going to the event. She called me back, reintroduced herself as Vanessa and tried selling me the deal again. I told her that I knew it was the woman who just called and now I know it is a scam. She said "no ma'am, even before you told me it was a scam, why do you think that" and I said the fact that she called me 2 minutes ago and told me her name was Jessica and now she told me her name was Vanessa even though clearly it is the same person I am talking to is a good indication that it is a scam. The nerve of some people! This time, she called from 221-771-2062
- Jim DReceived the same type of call from "Janice Frank" who said I'd won an award and had to pick it up from the same office at 216 Chrislea Rd #202 address in Woodbridge. Gave me the same #716-240-4231 which I immediately knew was upstate New York instead of here in the Toronto area. Absolute twaddle, this company! When I asked their company name, it was "Consumer Appreciation Dept".
- What SCAM will they think of next?!Just received phone call at approximately 10:50 am on May 14, 2009 from a "Sam Long" of the Consumer Appreciation Department with the Holiday Inn and Hilton Hotels. Apparently an electronic entry was received via fax from their Woodbridge office notifying them that we were 1 of the 250 selected ballots during the 2008 Christmas season that won one of the following prizes.
(1) $1000 Cash Prize
(2) 52 inch TV
(3) Free Accomodation Package worth $2500 in value
The phone call began with an introduction that ended with "Can you help me?" Given the nature of the call, why should such a question be posed? Then was told that they had tried to reach us for the past few days at the same phone number. Funny, since we had been accessible at that number anytime. An attempt was made to confirm our home address during the conversation. When asked how and where the ballot was filled out, was told that 1 of 20 affiliated sponsors (eg. Visa, MC, Amex, etc.) were the reason. The phone call sounded as if it came from a call centre, however, a female child's voice was heard yelling for a brief moment in the background.
The call was ended abruptly with a request to call them back after talking it over with each other. The contact number that was given was (716) 240-4231 Ext. 113.
This is the 2nd time they have tried calling in the past month. Each phone call asked to speak with the other spouse. PLEASE BE AWARE and when asked a question you don't want to answer, reply back with "Why do you want to know?" - canadiangot call from "RODERICK". asked for my husband by Mr. and first name. my husband pretended he wasnt there. they asked when he would be home. he told them 11pm and asked for a return phone number. he was given the name of Roderick and the phone number of 716-240-4231. after researching call back number we realized it was in Buffalo New York. we hadnt entered any draws or contests. did not return his call.
- TVS Vacation Store ScamAll the details listed in the May 14, 2009 'What SCAM' Will Them Think of Next' are exactly what happened to me but from a Frank Wood at 716-240-4231. I asked him point blank: 'Is this a Vacation Company/Time Share Organization'. He replied 'NO'! Just for sh--s and giggles, I went to the 216 Chrislea address given and that's exactly what it was. When I challenged an attractive young lady they have greeting you, she was very upfront and offered right away for me to fill out a complaint form ... I declined and we asked a name in management. I was given Damian Radulescu, General Manager, at 905-856-1747. When I left, I saw 3 other couples leaving right away behind me. This company not only deciptful but Frank Wood actually lied!
