This is a scam. They buy your debt and try to collect it. They try to use scare tactics like telling you a warrant for your arrest has been issued in order to get you to pay them the debt they bought from the original company. Read the FTC guidelines for a list of scams to ignore. This is one of them. They will change their number every few months and call you all over again. Once you ask them for proof of the debt in writing and tell them that they are harassing you illegally they will hang up on you and try again in a few weeks.

    C/O ELEMENT GLOBAL SERVICES, INC.

(This business may be spoofed, but I think this is the same group that  called you)

If you have been bothered by these people, you can make a report to the New York State attorney general.

    See:  http://www.ag.ny.gov/debt-settlement/debt-collection-companies

This is a UPS store.   Which means this "corporation" is little more than a mall-rat kitchen-table operation.   Located, as usual, in a small town in New York state, home of the kitchen-table debt scammers.  Most likely working out of someone's house.

They are now calling themselves something like MPS.

This may refer to Manning Price and Stern, Florida Debt Collection company (May be Spoofed)

I recieved a call from them about two days ago, asking for a family member. I only stayed on the line because the woman identified herself as "Stacy Saunders from Nationwide" (I assumed this meant Nationwide as in the insurance company, but tried to confirm this and was told it was "Nationwide Investigations".) I immediately googled the name and found it listed as some sort of phishing scam, and everyone else received the exact same type of call- asking for a family member who had NEVER been associated with the phone number and threatening some type of legal summons unless said family member contacted them at an 800-number within the hour.

My ex sister in law got a call from this number, saying that they had a complaint against me and needed to speak to me directly. They told her that they got her number because I used her as a reference. I don't even have her new cell phone number, but they asked for me by name. She didn't give them my information (thank goodness), but sent me the number. They get angry when you do not provide the information that they want. And he got even more defensive when she asked what company he represented. He refused to say. That is how I found this forum. Do not trust this number!

Yes, today I got a call from this number 716-240-7221 but I did not answer it.  I know whom I gave my # so anyone calling me that I don't recognize the number I son't bother answering it.  It is less head ache and besides, eventually they will hang=up without leaving a message.

I received two calls from two different people at this same number today. They were very aggressive, trying a variety of scare tactics to get me to call a number about a "summons that was outstanding against me." I would strongly suggest that you not call the number they give you or give out any personal information.

Some dude who sounded like a total idiot just called me. He said that he was calling me, because Mrs. Beverly Williams is sending me a package and they were calling to let me know. I said "I don't know such person, and no, I don't want any packages from a total stranger." Guy said that she listed me as someone that she knows and so he needs to send this package on her behalf. I asked, because he never asked me by my own name, I said: "So if she knows me, then who am I? What is my name?" He repeated that Beverly Williams knows me and he needs to dispatch a package from her. I repeated to him: "I don't know and don't recall ever meeting a Beverly Williams and NO, I don't want to receive an package from a total stranger. Don't call me again!" Guy said, "Ok, Ma'am, I'm sorry. Thank you for your time." Call ended immediately. Scam for sure, beware, people!

We also got a phone call from this number and when they were pressed for what their company name was they kept saying "I don't have time for this, I have other customers in line waiting to be helped". I continued to press them, and they refused to give a company name and continued to state that they were from the claims and litigation department and eventually hung up on me.
