Called my work phone and threathened to show up my job with a lawsuit...

Same thing happened to me. Called my work and cell about something SUPPOSEDLY pending. After talking to a lady for a while and requesting a letter, an email and checking out the website, i realized what the call was for and what was going on. I owed on a ring from a few years back when my man cheated on me so we obvs stopped paying for it. I set up payments and just got my letter in the mail today. The lady wasn't too helpful at first but we got this worked out so that's all that matters. That's all i wanted was this taken care of.

Called my cell phone today twice - once at 7:48 am and once at 7:50 am looking for my ex-husband's father. I told her that I had not spoken to him since before my ex and I filed for divorce 14 years ago. She kept going on about how important it was to speak to him about some court case against him. That's how I know this was a scam call - a genuine debt collector CANNOT and WILL NOT release information that important over the phone except to the involved party.

I got angry and slipped up, cursing and hung up. When I hung up on her, she called me back and left me a message complaining because I swore at her and threatening me with how my call was recorded and she would be happy to speak to me if I calmed down and spoke nicely.

Needless to say, I"m not calling her back. I am not liable for my former father in law's debt, haven't spoken to him in a dog's age, don't know how to reach him, don't care to, and really couldn't care about whatever "debt" they claim he owes.

Why are you discontinuing all phone lines?  Because that is the only way that it would be the last time you ever get a call.

No one here is calling you.  Invest in a call blocker and keep your existing phone lines.

Yes, got a similar call today. They left a message for my brother but stated my name had come up in a "case". When I called them back they said it was urgent to speak to my brother in the next 24 hours.
