- Katherine| 1 replyIt says its "Same Day Courier Service" to deliver documents from a collection agency. Its an intimidation tactic. Don't answer or tell them to stop calling you.
- wanda replies to KatherineSposed to be getting court documents. not understanding
- SamOh for cripes sakes. This company called me earlier today from a different number (which I blocked, leading them to use this one, apparently), and left a message about SDS Courier Service, and a man named Ben Hartman coming to serve me papers tomorrow, ID badge #, etc. I looked them up under 800-745-6048 on this website and found that Mr. Hartman was apparently visiting 5 different states tomorrow in the same time window - amazing! These people are scam artists trusting in your ignorance of the debt collection process in order to get you to pay something you don't owe. Don't do it!
First - if you know anything about the process of debt collection, you know that:
1) They don't call to let you know they're serving you court papers - they just show up. Seriously, if they called ahead of time, how many times do you think they'd be successful in serving papers? Zero. No one would be home when they showed up if they gave advance notice.
2) If you owed a debt that had gone so far into collections that they were taking you to court over it, you would definitely know of it - you would have received notices in the mail, collection calls, etc. You wouldn't just get a phone call out of the blue claiming they are suing you. You'd be well aware of it.
3) If you call the number of the company that they give you in the recording, someone will answer and refuse to identify themselves or their company until you give them your phone number of social security number. Sound a little fishy? IT IS. Don't do it.
These people buy old debt files that have been paid off, charged off, or invalidated due to bankruptcy, and then try to collect on them, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW. Don't let them bully you into paying something you don't owe!! In my case, I fell into the trap of payday loans about 5 years ago, and got in over my head. I paid them all off, but it took me a long time and a lot of fighting over the phone, because a few of them refused to accept my payment (are you kidding?!? You don't want my money??). I sent my State's Attorney General's office after them with a cease and desist notice, because it turns out they were lending illegally in my state - they weren't licensed to lend here. 5 years later, I still get a scam phone call about once a month from a collector trying to collect on one of those loans, all of which were paid off in full - I have the paid in full notices to prove it. Moral of the story: DON'T use payday loans and DON'T let someone on the phone bully you into paying something you don't think you owe. Demand the name of the company, validation of the debt in writing, and proof that they are going to "sue" you, as they claim in their message. Trust me, you won't get it from these creeps - they know they are breaking the law - they just hope YOU don't know it too.- Caller: SDS Courier

- TimGBR| 1 replyThese people are frauds! And they aren't getting any better at it. I've been receiving calls from different "collection firms" for months now, but this new texting approach is just so...embarrassing for them. It's like they aren't even trying anymore. This was after speaking with multiple representatives from "LaSalle Recovery Bureau", which with a minimal amount of research looks to be fraudulent. They don't have a working website (though they do have a domain parked at go daddy) , no physical address (just a PO box) and they deal in the same sorry ass tactics as every other scam collection company. STEP UP YOUR GAME SCAMMERS!!!
PSA - DON'T BELIEVE IT UNLESS YOU SEE IT IN WRITING!!! They may call to let you know they're sending something through the mail, but per the law they must give you the info in writing prior to collecting.
Recommendations: Call your state's Attorney General, call the FTC. File complaints and hope for the best.
Best of luck!

- PD replies to AmandaHAHA let them "close" the case. If they really owed money woudlnt they be "Opening" a case. Its part of an extortion scam. Even if the calls are not for you, do not give your personal info or you will be the next scam target. The debts dont exist anyways. They can keep calling 10 times a day with various faked caller ID's. Luckily all my customers are inhouse so i dont need to answer any external phone calls.
- no name replies to AmandaThats amazing; I got a text with the exact information right down to the case number; they are so full of crap they slosh when they walk....

If they call you report them:
* File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
* File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency).
They continue to bother you, tell them you are going to the police to make a complaint of extortion.- Caller: Informational post
- joan replies to AmandaI got the same text with the same case number
- JL| 2 repliesI've gotten the same voicemail messages. Same scam. Numbers and courier names change but it's all LaSalle recovery. Now their newest scam is texting me this:
"Payment for your Payday loan account is scheduled for 9/24/2014, with the banking information submitted on loan application.Questions please call 773-435-9438"
When I never replied and they never got money (because again, it's a scam attempt and they don't have my banking info) they sent this text:
"Your payment with LRB has come back declined; A $25 fee is added for everyday payment is late. To stop fees please call 716-261-3789"
Don't fall for their crap. I report them every time they leave the fake courier court papers message and now I will report them for the texts.- Caller: LRB, LaSalle recovery
