got a call at 10:44 this am...  ring 1once or twice.  and hung up..   I've been on the do not call list for at least 3 years..   Aren't they supposed to get in trouble for bothering people on that list?  or do they just first find out they shouldn't call and that is why the ring is for such a short period???  I've been sick a lot and often am sleeping at odd hours of the day.

The do not call list has become an international joke. Criminal companies outside the country basically use the list as a database of known numbers to call with a spoofed number created through skype or google. As long as they aren't trying to sell you anything directly, they can still call and try to trick you into making donations or taking surveys that include personal information they then use to hijack your accounts. The rules of the do not call list need to be updated so people/authorities can actually take action against these callers BEFORE the identity theft/fraud takes place.

Why would criminal companies (in or out of the country) PAY for the DNC list when all they need to do is use a predictive dialer? The DNC isn't just handed to anyone who wants it, you know.

You've been sick? It's a telemarketer. It is their job. The do not call list is a pile of crap and doesn't work. "They" don't exist.

Since the callers are criminal, why do you think that they would obey the law?

I have a cellular TracFone and I do not answer unknown numbers.  Someone called today at 5:40 PM let it ring twice then hung up without leaving a message.  My phone number is registered on the national & Florida Do Not Call Lists.  However these are probable scammers and WILL NOT abide by the DNC List!

Rang twice then disconnected.  I placed a block caller Boyce onthe number. Most cell phone and some land lines have this fm too.
