- Christine| 1 replyI'm being sued by the IRS too. Yeah like the IRS is going to leave a recorded call by a robot. I'm sooooo scared. Wish someone would do something about these people. Wipe off the planet. I'd never fall for this scam but I feel awful for people who do...especially the elderly.
- Caller: Claimed to be the IRS
- Christine replies to ChristineI called back to have a little fun with them...no answer. They must really want mymoney.
- S| 1 replyReceived call from this number (normally don't answer when ID list "unavailable") yesterday (08/21/2015) with robotic female voice advising of the same thing as described above...IRS, lawsuit...etc. Being retired law enforcement, decided to have a little fun so called back. My call was answered by a live male voice which I could barely understand. There were sounds in the background like others talking on phones. He kept saying what sounded like "juarez". I kept telling him I was very scared about this "lawsuit" and wanted to speak to IRS. He kept saying "juarez" and I finally figured out he was saying IRS. I asked him what I needed to do to avoid this "lawsuit" and he started talking, but it was so fast and with an accent, I really couldn't understand him. Think I heard "social security" somewhere in his rambling. Tiring of this game, I asked him his name and he replied something I couldn't understand. I told him I was a federal agent and would be starting an investigation on this number. There was several seconds of silence and then a click as he hung up. Today (08/22/2015) I received another call from same number. I again answered and got same recorded message. I immediately called back and the call was answered with a male voice that still had a strong accent (Spanish I believe) and I told him I was very worried about this lawsuit and needed to speak with IRS. He said he was IRS. I asked his name and he mumbled something like "officer kevin". I asked him to repeat his name and he mumbled the same thing and that he was with IRS. I advised idiot number two I was a federal agent and then partially covered up the mouthpiece of my phone and asked my wife, who was sitting nearby, if she was tracing the call. She replied in a somewhat loud voice that she was able to trace the call. There was an immediate hangup from the idiot. I attempted to call back twice and received no answer. Surprise, surprise.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
. - MikeGot the call as well. It came on a Saturday morn at 7:30 right after I got up.
Turns out it was a fake. Darn! I was hoping I could win the case, they have a lot of money you know, I was hoping to get some of that when I won the suit instead of them but Darn! it's a fake.
The IRS of course will always contact you through mail first.- Caller: Scamers Inc

- Heather GSaid we are being sued by IRS
- Caller: Clarence center NY
- Call type: Prank
- KateSaid Clarence Cen NY on call ID. Part of a message was left to call the number. No reason. Don't think I'll be doing that, especially after reading the other comments.
- Caller: No company listed, just town
- No Fool HereA recorded message of course. I am being called repeatedly too saying the IRS is going to sue me and to call them back. I am not wasting my time to call back and see if anyone even answers. This has been going on now for 4 days. I wish the IRS would use their resources to track down these dishonest scum trying to prey on unsuspecting people and do something about shutting them down. Maybe we should all contact Dr. Phil before an elderly person looses their life savings to these scammers. Dr. Phil has exceptional investigators and would locate them for sure.
- Georgette Cipolla| 1 replytwo calls today something about someone is suing me who I don't know and for what I don't know
