716-492-8804 - Guy calls up claiming to be with some Police association. Called me by name, which is not listed in the phone directory, so he must have scammed it off Voter Registration.

You'd think scammers doing the "policy charity" dodge would be instantly arrested by the REAL POLICE.

some EXTREMELY pushy & menacing man just called pretending to be part of a police association.  he kept saying my first name in a very aggressive way and was angered when i wouldn't confirm that was my name.  he said, "so you ARE so-an-so??!!"  he was horrifying.

Just had the same experience...angrily asking for my husband...what can be done...??

My fiance' answered the phone and a man asked for me by first name. When my fiance' asked what this was in redards to (we always have tons of solicit calls EVERYDAY despite my number being put on the "do not call list"), he was told that it was the "CHIEF" of police and would NOT tell him what it was about. He then figuared it was a scam and told him I wasn't home. WELL, I'm not proud of this, but I am on probation, and when I was told of this, I was automatically freaked out as I have had phone calls from the so called "state police" trying to scam, but never the "chief", so I then panicked!!! Everyone who is on probation or parole knows that you can sit home and do NOTHING, and yet all it takes is one person that is MAD at you, and your whole world can come crumbling down, so I was then thinking "OMG....is this the case of did my name and number come up in someones cell that was murdered in Buffalo or something (yes...my fiance' told me I watch way too much of  the first 48 lol)...you just never know these days, BUT when the "CHIEF OF POLICE" calls your home for any reason...espeacially if your on probation or parole, it can't be good lol!!! Thanks to these people, my worries were put to rest, and I was able to "NOT PANICK" and "FLEA STATE" (just kidding) lmao!!! But...there really should be something done about these soliciters...thise is rediculous when you can't even answer your phone without the worry of being scammed!!!

When I answered the phone, the mane asked for me by my name. I asked him who he was and why he was calling. He responded that his name was Wayne and he was calling on behalf of the association of police chiefs. I told him that I wanted the name of his company and his supervisor because I was registered on the do not call registry and he argued with me that I was not on their list. I again asked him for the name of his company and his supervisor's name and was told once again I was not listed on his do not call registry. I asked for the name of the company and supervisor for the third time and was finally told the company's name was Zytel and that his supervisor was in a meeting. I said at that time if they called me again I would turn them in to the NYS Attorney General's Office.

I just received a call from this number.  The person asked for Mary, and I said that there was no Mary at this number (cause there isn't). He then said I am really sorry I will never call you again.  I then said that is ok.  He then said I will never call but I know you want me to call you, I know you would like that, would you like that.  I ended up hanging up.  But was a little freaked by this person.  All and the call states please hold from an important call from the Cheif of Police.

My elderly mother just got a call from this number. When I answered the phone all there was was someone breathing heavy and then a hang up. I'm really glad my mom didn't pick this call up. She is on the Do Not Call List. As a matter of fact I just re-reistered her a few days ago because lately she has been getting a lot of these calls and not just from this number. This is the 3rd one today.

if he is with washington county SHERIFF why is he calling people in erie county and why does he have a 716 area code.

I have had this guy call me a few times now over the past few months.  He was definitely aggressive.  I told him that I give to my local police and fire departments.  I don't see how this guy could possibly be legit.

I recieved a message on my new phone number that I just got about two weeks ago (unlisted) from this number 716-492-8804.  The message was just very heavy breathing.  I tried calling the number back and it says I cannot complete as dialed. I am not sure how they got this number, because I have not given it to anyone except immediate family and it is unlisted.  I hate the a**holes who insist on making theseannoying calls!!!!!  It does not even matter anymore if you are on the 'do not call' list, because apparently these jerks can call anyways.

So that gives him the right to be a jerk???? I have not talk to him yet....but he calls my house everyday.  Now reading all these,  I can't wait for him to call again.  And you can bet i'm  gonna answer!!!!

I have received 4 calls from this number.  It is someone different everytime and they always ask for my husband by his first name.  When they called at 8:15 this morning, I finally got the guy to say he was calling from some police chief's association.  In the same breath, he said he'd call back.  I told him that I'd appreciate if he didn't call again.  He paused, I heard clicks on a keyboard, and he hung up.  I would love to know how they got our home number when it's unlisted and we've only had it for one month!
