Left a message as irs and need to have soc. Number.  Sounds flakey. Aint buying. Irs usually contacts by snail mail

I got a call from this number 716-616-9075 from a guy claiming to be Steven Smith. He had an east Indian or Persian accent and claimed to be from the IRS!  He had my cell number and knew my address. I told him that he didn't sold like a Steven Smith and hung up on this guy. People beware, scammers are out there.

Indian or pakistani accent, claiming to be "officer Richard Lewis" from IRS criminal investigation.  Was calling my wifes number thinking it was mine.  Its a scam.

Just received 3 calls within a few minutes of each other. Someone named Officer Richard Lewis with an Indian accent just left a message and wished me luck if either me or my lawyer didn't call back. Didn't realize the IRS left threats on voicemails. I give them this... Persistent little buggers!

Claimed to put me in jail, lien all my assets and freeze my bank account, The minute I called him out and said they would of sent me a letter if I owed the IRS, he hung up!

Total Scam. East indian guy at a call center threatening to freeze accounts but needs my social. Duh if you are the IRS you have this buddy

LITERAL TRANSCRIPT OF MESSAGE:
This message is for you, Richard Simon. Richard, this is Steven Smith calling you from the Internal Revenue Service Department.
Now, there (unintelligible) receive this message, I need you or your retained attorney of record to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My name is Steven Smith and hotline to my division is 716 616-9075. I repeat for you, 716 616-9075.
Don’t try to disregard this message and do return the call. If you don’t return the call or I don’t hear from your attorney either then the only thing I can do for you is wish you a very good luck as this situation badly unfolds on you.
Goodbye and take care.

I recieved 4 calls within a few hours from this number. A woman with a very heavy pakistany accent left me a message saying I was in very great legal trouble and if Ididn't call her back very soon, my social security number would be investigated by the state and it would be flagged for the rest of my life. Then she told me to have a good day and hung up.... I'm still trying to decide when I should start my nervous breakdown!    

I got a message from 866-978-8036 about he IRS and then received a call form this number the next day. Same accent.  Said we shared a bed together.  Knew my cell phone number and home address.  SCAM - Put on BLOCK LIST!!!

I received the same call twice from the woman with an Indian accent and it was the same threatening message as above. Thankfully I googled the number and saw this site and confirmed it was a scam. Wish we could find these DBs and have them arrested!!

I also received a call from 716-616-9075 and 1-866-978-8036 - with all the the same info listed below - I took my phone to the police department yesterday to file a report on the 716-616-9075 number but then they called me on the second number - Please beware and spread the word

Total scam claiming to be IRS agent wanting money to settle a tax debt.  They treaten jail time don't believe it.  The IRS would not do it this way.  

Same thing and same numbers  - 716 616 9075 as well as 866-978-8036 - they don't seem to like it when I have all my friends and family call them - they  must not like harrassing phone calls - I put it on blast on Facebook and we've been calling them asking if their mother knows what they do for a living! We also try to tie up their lines pretending to go along with the scam just so they waste their time with us instead of using that time to take advantage of people that might actually believe them.

My husband got a voice mail stating that it was an IRS call and we've been turned in for tax fraud and left a number to call back. When he called the number (716-616-9075) a man answered "hello?" not an official "thank you for calling...this is....how can I help you?". This man then tells my husband that there is a criminal investigation and he is going to send a sheriff to our house! I Googled the number and we are not the only ones he has called. I called the number back myself and got an answering machine (probably because he did not recognize my number, since he didn't call me). I left a nice little message and plan on calling back 100 times. I'm going to have some fun :)

I got a call from lady with an Indian accent saying that I'm involved with some trouble with the IRS. She left this call back number & when i called back a voicemail picked up. Clearly i didn't leave a message. This sound like a SCAM & my cpa agrees.

I have received the call 3 times. On my cell. I am in CA. SCAM

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Thats because it is a scam!  Most of these calls are coming from India and pakistan. Not much you can do short of invest in a call blocker to stop the calls.

Just tell them you work for the irs when they ask for a badge number just ramble off some numbers and then ask for yours. At that point the will tell you "you don't work for the IRS You MFing piece of Sh**", but now they won't answer anymore of my calls
