    What the heck?
I got 27 calls on my house phone - one right after the other - from this number last night.  When I answered there would be pure silence on the phone.  I called it back from my cell as well and it says its a magic jack number and the only way you can speak to the owner is if the owner has already called you from that number.
I got all 27 calls between 2am and 2:15am.  They stopped when I unplugged my phone.

I got a call from this number after the man and I had been corresponding on Match.com.  He said his name was Edmund Sylverster and he wanted to buy me a laptop right away.  Said he was a multi-millionaire.  He just recently asked for $1000 and I reported him to Match.

I got a phone call from a heavily accented man who said he had a package for me. It sounded like a scam so I hung up. He called back and I didn't answer. Is this a number from one person or is it an access number for multiple scams?

This is a phone scam claiming I won something.  I contacted the BBB and they told me.  Thank God for the Better Business Bureau!

Got this call and a whole bunch of others as usual. Spoofed, a jumble of numbers that mean nothing and all that crap. What I now do is ignore it. The important people in my life know to call me only on my cell. All other calls don't matter to me. The a$$holes don't have the cell number and never will. So, I turn off the ringer on the land line and I just let it ring. It slows them down listening to the phone ring in their ear all day if nothing else, not to mention keeps them from calling someone else and harassing them for a short time. It's a win win for me. ;) Lots of people I know are doing this. Just ignore the criminals. It drives them crazy! LOL

Frequent calls form men with heavy accents claiming to work for Microsoft and offering to take care of a virus on my computer to keep out hackers.  I allowed him access to my computer and my computer has been a mess since,.  Don't know if this is related, but we then had someone get our credit card number and use it fraudulently.  Just got another call offering me a refund for my computer protection services that I paid to them.  They tried to access my computer but I was smarter this time.

    With thanks to Slim--

Since the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
    • Disabled the anti-virus software
    • Added nasty malware to the computer
    • Copied the Contact List (so they can spam/email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
    • Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
    • Compromised your ID
    • "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
    • Deleted some important files
    • Asked for money to repair the damage they caused

What can you do immediately after such an attack?
    1.  Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
    2.  Change ALL  passwords stored on the computer
    3.  Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
    4.  Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
    5.  Inform your bank and credit card companies
    6.  Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
    7.  You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
    8.  Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
    9.  Plug in the cables only AFTER all the above have been done
    10.  Change the passwords on all online accounts.  Even better - access a "safe", uninfected  computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.
