- Wromjue replies to AYes it is and when you call them back to tell them to stop calling your home three, four times a day. All you get is a machine that wants your account number... TELEMARKETERS ARE THE SCUM OF SOCIETY...
- taxy200 replies to AI find that when these telemarket calls come in i turn my fax on after several times reaching my fax their autodialers usually pick up that its a fax and stopping callin my number works about 99.99% of the time YES!!!!!
- Kat| 3 repliesNo call, but I did receive two boxes of books from them today. This is very strange because I have NOT signed up for the club, nor has anybody else in my household...I have a Kindle and buy books electronically, why would I sign up for this club?? LOL
Since I have an account number on the invoice, I tried calling - but customer service was closed. The recording so nicely provided an email address of "service@memberservice.com" and I have sent them an email, requesting information (date/time of signup, method of signup, IP address if applicable, etc.). I hope to have some answers tomorrow.- Caller: Book Of The Month Club

- mamakrowthey keep calling me claiming 3 years ago someone got books at my house and signed up for some membership agreement. yet i call the number back (they have some debt collection service calling me who is unable to provide the credit card number) and get an insane wait time.
I have not ever before nor will I ever order books through some club... why would I when I get my barnes and noblediscount? - haley| 1 replyI have never received a call from them, but they charged my card twice. It came up as BMC*BOMC. When I called to dispute the charges, they stated that my information was not in the system and to call back in a few days. If a transaction has posted on my card, you HAVE to have some type of information on me! I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me the same thing. IT IS A SCAM! DO NOT PICK UP THE PHONE! I have no idea how they got my information but it is very scary to have identity theft.

- FURIOUSAs stated 1-717-918-2665 is for the Home Style Books book of the month club. Today there was a $ 30.00 charge on my bank account and I have not ordered anything in this amount from the book club. I have tried to return 2 books I received and did not want. The return address does not have a P.O box or address, just the name of the company and the city, and my local Fed Ex idiot customer service person would not take the return; I am not aware that they can automatically charge my account and can't get any information until tomorrow. I will cancel my membership when I can call them tomorrow and may be contacting the state Attorney General's office as well.

- angrydidnt receive a call but had an unauthorized charge that included this phone number. I looked it up first rather than call and found this site. I have never had any contact with them previously and absolutely never ordered or received anything.
- The Great| 6 repliesYeah, I woke up this morning (it's about 9AM here), and I couldn't believe I was charged for $42 on my card. Like the guy above me, I also googled the number before calling. Unlike a lot of you, I do remember making an account and getting the introductory package, but I don't remember ever agreeing to future payments...so I gave them a call.
The lady on the other end was actually pretty nice and helpful. She released my payment, and told me how to cancel my account. I have no idea what happened to you guys, but it really sucks to feel scammed. - LAMET replies to The GreatDid you read the terms and conditions of the introductory package? This is what you agreed to when you set up your account. Its also what they COUNT ON - is you the consumer not reading the T & C FIRST.
They like to use Negative Option contracts on these - if YOU DO NOT CANCEL within the intro period - they will charge you. Again opening the account is your agreement to these charges.
They also make it next to impossible to cancel.
ALWAYS READ the Terms and Conditions as well as the Privacy Policy BEFORE you start filing out forms. (some capture the data even if you do not submit it)
This is what you agree to on any website and this is where they tell you that they SELL/SHARE information - increasing telemarketing calls and spam emails. - TomI also received a call from a collecting agency. There was an order made by mail to an address I moved away from 5 years ago. The order had no credit card or other payment information, but it does seem to have contained my phone number.
The collection agency did provide the phone number (717-918-2665) for the book club and my "supposed" account number. Based on this, the very helpful agent at Bookclub was able to determine that the order was made about 18 months ago by mail. She then also proceeded to cancel the charges.
Hopefully this is the end of it. I requested confirmation to my new address that the charges are canceled.- Call type: Debt collector
- DriverGoogled 717-918-2665 after receiving a call from their "collection agency!". Whoa, that'll get your attention! They wanted my address and last 4 digits of my ss#. Of couse I laughed and gave them neither. The collection caller said they represented a monthly book club ... now I'm convinced it's a scam for some telemarketing group! Never even entertained the thought of joining a bookclub.
So fellow bloggers, don't fall Ito their marketing scam! - mwoke up this morning to find that my credit card had been used for 107.83 and the number associated to this charge was 717-918-2665.I never purchased anything from this company and had better get my money back.
- Caller: scam
- TerriSomeone managed to steal my debit card number and order items from this place!!!
- Texas ReaderI did order books from them. I in fact placed an order on 5/22 for 3 books. Apparently when you sign up, you automatically are sent featured books once a month. So 2 days after the charge went through for my 3 books that I ordered, 2 more books were billed for 48.00 and change. I just called them and they put me on an order only status. This means that I have 2 more books to buy to honor my commitment to them for purchases, but I won't automatically be sent books anymore. This is good. This means between now and March 2011. I have only 2 books to buy. I can after those two books just leave the account open and never purchase again or I can purchase as I want. They've changed apparently. She was very helpful. I told her that I had gone online 2 days after making the purchase of the three books and cancelled my account or tried to. She went ahead and credited back my 48.00 and change and told me when the box comes to write on it REFUSED! RETURN TO SENDER! and have it shipped back via the post office. So I'll be checking for it in the mail today.
- rubinjaneI,have been getting calls from this 800-620-0371,yeah thats right a collection company..they said, that i was owing this Crafter's Chioce $136,something.I,told them i had never bought or ordered anything from this book club???It has gone into collections and i will surely send this to the Attorney Generals Office. This Crafter's Choice number is 717-918-2665 no, it is not a toll free number so it is costing you money to call them .That is not the way to handle any business at all.

- Vera| 2 repliesYou are all so correct folks.
I got a packet in the mail with some books for kids ans sent in a payment as I liked those books. The next thing I saw in the mail was a bill telling me I have to place an order every month for three years; that if I don't want to place an order then I should send them $53.37.
I have been receiving this bill in the mail for the past six months or more with same amount. They even indicated my name has been sent to ALLIANT, a consumer reporting agency due to deliquency on my account.
Someone needs to stop thieves like these. Any company with a P O Box for address must be verified.
Their address on the bill they sent to me is
CHILDREN'S BOMC
